Students were mislead by Universities across Ireland overestimating the possibility of in person learning. The quality of education has decreased but the fees have not. These stories shared are from students experiencing #collegeduringcovid
#UCDSmurfit increased class sizes dramatically this year, something that would not be possible if classes were in person. Seems clear they knew the year would be virtual and deliberately kept this information from students. #UCDdropthefees

Thank you @conwaywalsh for bringing up our cause with @SimonHarrisTD today. @SmurfitSchool students were deliberately mislead, overpromised, and sold an experience #UCD knew they would not provide. It is shameful to charge the same high fees for reduced learning. #UCDdropthefees
The truth of the matter is that the value is reduced. Students are receiving less lecture hours than in previous years and some lecturers do not even utilize the full time allotted in the timetable. #UCDdropthefees
@SimonHarrisTD said that the cost of delivering postgraduate programs has not reduced, implying students should pay the same fees. Students are NOT responsible for the bottom line of a University. Students should pay for the value of the education, not the cost. #UCDdropthefees
My professor just said that this year we only had 18 lecture hours versus the normal 24 hours. @SmurfitSchool Are you really maintaining that students are getting the same value? #UCDdropthefees
Students are not responsible for #UCD's bottom line. It does not matter if they lost revenue from accommodation or commercial activities. The quality of education is decreased so the fees must be decreased. #UCDdropthefees
One of my professors isn't even in Dublin. If #UCD let the professors teach from all over the world why weren't they honest with students about this trimester? The Professors knew it wouldn't be in person, #UCD had a duty to share this with students. #UCDdropthefees
The joint committee for higher education has just sent a press release commending the efforts of universities in the move to online learning and stating there has been no diminution in the quality of the learning experience. First, this is completely incorrect.
Second, it is disgraceful for a committee member to issue a statement like this before the committee has even met! @campaign4kehoe needs to correct his shortsighted and irresponsible statements as he is damaging any efforts made by students to fight for fee reductions.
@SmurfitSchool #UCD deliberately misled students into coming to Dublin. Now students are stuck here paying full fees for a severely diminished experience. #UCDdropthefees
While #UCD Smurfit claims their costs are the same, #UCD also made an additional 11 million euros from student fees this year. Now students are stuck paying very high fees for a diminished experience. #UCDdropthefees

How disappointing to know that while #UCD refuses to give tuition relief during a pandemic they have profited an extra 11 million euros from student fees. #UCDdropthefees
While students at #UCD suffer financially and pay extraordinarily high fees for a diminished experience, #UCD is profiting even more from students during a pandemic.
