Ben Rinehart's #artistbook "Boys & Bubs : Seasons of Change", a tunnel book that illustrates outdoor activities in the USA. Rinehart states "my family is no different than many others when it comes to enjoying the great outdoors." #ucfspecialcollections#ucflibrary#bookarts
Something Man Made Is Here by Amelia Haig is our #UCF#StudentBookArts Competition Winner 2022. The inspiration for the book began as a random search that was "vague and haunting." Haig began working with #artistbooks for a year and grew interested in different styles of books.
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual Student Union (GLBSU) was the group/club before @UCF_LGBTQ that served the community and provided a haven for anyone. Events such as "Diva Invasion" is one of the many that helps bring people together to raise #awareness for the #LGBTQ+ community.
Opened in 1992 by Bruce Ground, Out & About Books was much more than a simple bookstore. This place was a haven for #LGBTQIA people and allies. Though Out & About Books closed its doors in 2001, it lives on in the #OrlandoLGBTQIA community. #lqbtqhistory#orlandohistory
Jerry T. Watkins III’s "Queering the Redneck Riviera" makes a wonderful addition to our holdings. It documents how sexuality impacted the rise of the Florida #Tourism Industry and in turn how Florida responded to the LGBTQ+ Community of the Panhandle. #LGBTQhistory#Emeraldcoast
1976: Carolyn Paul is documented through FuTUre to be the first #HomecomingQueen person of color. Paul was born in Japan and moved the U.S. when she was around 14 years old. In the interview she speaks on her experience with the difference of #cultures between Japan and the U.S.
