Today, Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI) presented its Final Post-Election Statement, assessing the conduct of the election and the key issues that emerged across the electoral process.
While Election Day was relatively peaceful compared with the pre-election period, the assessment identified important areas requiring attention, including delays in election administration, uneven BVAS performance, voter inducement, reports of security interference, localised violence, and discrepancies identified through result analysis.
As of 12:30 am on the 16th of August, KDI’s Ballot Integrity Project (BIP) is tracking results uploaded to IReV across Osun State.
These figures reflect only results uploaded and captured on IReV at the stated time and are not the final official results.
Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI) will continue tracking and analysing the results as more polling-unit results are uploaded, while awaiting INEC’s official declaration.

"One interesting thing about the CSS report is that the restriction of civic space is not unique to Nigeria. The findings reflect issues that extend beyond our national boundaries. Nevertheless, they call for immediate attention and action." - @Uchereke#CivicSpaceGuard
During the presentation of the report, one truth kept coming up: freedom is not a gift we receive; it is a right we must protect. As @Uchereke put it, the price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

WITHDRAWAL OF THE COMPULSORY VOTING BILL
Press Statement from the Office of the Speaker, House of Representatives
May 26, 2025
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., GCON, wishes to inform the public that, following extensive consultations with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, he has decided to withdraw the Bill to Amend the Electoral Act 2022 to make voting mandatory for all eligible Nigerians, which he co-sponsored with Hon. Daniel Asama Ago.
From the outset, the Bill was introduced with the best of intentions, which is to bolster civic engagement and strengthen our democracy by encouraging higher voter turnout. Compulsory voting has long been practised with notable success in countries such as Australia, Belgium and Brazil, where it has helped sustain participation rates above 90 per cent, while nations like Argentina and Singapore have also implemented similar measures to foster inclusivity at the ballot box.
Nevertheless, the Speaker acknowledges that lawmaking is ultimately about the people it serves, and that any reform must respect individual freedoms and public sentiment. Rather than compel participation, he is committed to exploring positive incentives and innovative approaches that will make voting more attractive and accessible to all Nigerians.
This withdrawal will allow time for further dialogue on how best to cultivate a culture of voluntary participation that honours both our democratic ideals and the rights of our citizens.
Signed:
Musa Abdullahi Krishi
Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Speaker, House of Representatives, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

When we inaugurated the 10th House in June 2023, Nigeria stood at a critical crossroads - facing economic challenges, insecurity, and a crisis of public confidence. We knew that business-as-usual would not suffice.
Today, I am proud to say: we rose to the moment.
From day one, we committed to an ambitious Legislative Agenda - one that was not just visionary, but actionable. Crafted through broad consultations and aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, our blueprint for reform and development is already delivering results.
In just under two years, the 10th House has introduced an unprecedented number of bills and motions, many of which have already become law. More than numbers, these are instruments of real change - targeted at governance, security, economy, inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
We have backed words with action: setting up monitoring mechanisms, integrating goals into committee workplans, and creating channels for feedback and transparency. And today’s Policy Dialogue on the Legislative Agenda in Abuja marks another bold step in fulfilling our promise to be a truly citizen-driven legislature.
As we prepare for Open NASS Week and the midpoint of our term, I invite every Nigerian to engage with us - scrutinise our work, offer your views, and help shape the next chapter of our shared journey.
Extraordinary times called for extraordinary responsibility. The 10th House has accepted that responsibility - and we’re just getting started.
Today in Abuja, I had the distinct honour of presenting official vehicles to four revered monarchs: His Royal Highness the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, CFR; the Emir of Ningi, Alhaji Haruna Yunusa Muhammad Danyaya; the Esu Karu, Pharm. Luka Panya Baba; and the Kur Jibu Bali, Alhaji Abubakar Mahmoud.
This gesture is more than symbolic - it reflects my unwavering commitment, and that of the 10th House of Representatives, to empower our traditional institutions. These royal fathers play a vital role in maintaining peace, unity, and cultural heritage across Nigeria.
As someone who comes from the same traditional system, I understand the importance of revitalizing and recognizing the role of our monarchs. That’s why, under my leadership, we established the Committee on Traditional Institutions for the first time in the history of our parliament and continue to include them in our legislative agenda.
The House remains a dependable ally of our royal fathers. Provisions have been made in the 2025 budget to extend similar support to other monarchs across the country. This is a legacy we are proud to build - one that values tradition, promotes peace, and strengthens national unity.
My sincere appreciation to the traditional rulers for their enduring wisdom and leadership. Your service to Nigeria does not go unnoticed.
#SpeakerAbbas #10thAssembly #TraditionalInstitutions #PeaceAndUnity #NigeriaForward
In continuation of our commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s traditional institutions, I was pleased to present another set of SUVs to six revered royal fathers from the South West, South South, and South East regions.
This comes just 24 hours after similar support was extended to 23 first- and second-class traditional rulers in Kaduna State.
Our royal fathers are the custodians of culture, peace, and grassroots leadership. Yet, they remain one of the most under-supported institutions in our country. As someone raised within these very institutions, I understand the weight they carry - and the challenges they face.
This gesture is my modest way of empowering them to carry out their duties more effectively. It’s not just about vehicles - it’s about dignity, recognition, and enabling them to continue being pillars of stability in our communities.
To our traditional rulers across the country: this is just the beginning. We will continue to support you, and I am confident that those who come after me will build on this foundation.
Special thanks to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support and commitment to uplifting the traditional institution. Without his leadership, none of this would be possible.
Let us all - governments, lawmakers, and the private sector - rally around our royal fathers. When we support them, we’re securing peace and progress for all.

Today, I had the honour of declaring open the First Legislative Conference and Expo on Renewable Energy in Nigeria, organized by the House Committee on Renewable Energy in partnership with the UNDP.
At this critical juncture, Nigeria has no option but to adopt renewable energy - not just to diversify our economy, but to align with a global shift toward sustainability. The case for renewable energy is no longer theoretical; it’s compelling, urgent, and essential for inclusive growth, climate resilience, and industrial innovation.
In 2023 alone, $1.7 trillion out of the $2.8 trillion global energy investment went into renewables, energy efficiency, and electric mobility. This isn’t just a trend - it’s a transformation. We must position Nigeria to lead, not lag behind.
At the 10th House, we are enacting reforms that make private investment in renewables more attractive. From eliminating VAT on renewable energy equipment to strengthening legal frameworks for clean energy deployment, we are acting with purpose and urgency.
President Tinubu's administration is equally committed - with a recent $1B financing initiative to expand solar access, already bringing light to over 200,000 citizens through mini-grids and solar home systems.
Renewable energy is no longer a niche - it’s the cornerstone of tomorrow’s global economy. And Nigeria must be at the forefront.

Only few days after I empowered constituents with 117 vehicles, 200 tricycles and 1000 motorcycles, I again witnessed history being made on Friday.
With deep gratitude to the Almighty and immense pride in the resilience of our youth, I disbursed ₦5 billion in scholarships to 30,000 students from across the North-West geopolitical zone.
From Jigawa to Zamfara, Kaduna to Kebbi, Sokoto to Kano and Katsina, these scholarships—ranging from ₦200,000 to ₦800,000—are not just financial aid; they are investments in dreams, engines for progress, and a resounding declaration that education is the future of this region, and Nigeria as a whole.
Watching the students cheer as they received their alerts was emotional. This is what public service should feel like—impactful and transformational.
We launched this ambitious education intervention at the brand new Federal University of Education, Zaria, in the company of notable sons and daughters of Kaduna State and the Northwest, including my governor, Senator Uba Sani, who was ably represented. Yet, the true VIPs were the students whose futures we are lighting up.
We are prioritizing fields like Medicine, Engineering, Law, and Technology—because Nigeria needs doctors, engineers, lawyers, and tech innovators now more than ever.
I also announced something dear to my heart: a modern orphanage in Zaria. This is more than bricks and mortar—it will be a sanctuary of love, education, and care for our most vulnerable children.
Education remains my life’s mission. From sponsoring 8,000 students for WAEC, NECO, and JAMB, to initiating the ₦80 billion Education Village in Zaria, our efforts continue to expand—across Kaduna and beyond, from Bayelsa to Imo, Kwara to Ondo.
This is my solemn promise: I will never stop working for the Nigerian child.
To the beneficiaries—study hard, soar high, and never forget the hopes riding on your success. The North-West, and indeed Nigeria, is counting on you.
Thank you to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani for their unwavering support. To my beloved constituents—thank you for believing in me.
We are not done yet. The future is bright. Let’s build it together.
