UCLA/Getty Conservation student Taylor Brehm wrapped up her second internship this summer at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Her main project was to conserve the cornices and rafraf of an elaborate Ottoman-era reception room from Damascus. Check out that before and after!
This summer UCLA/Getty Conservation student Makayla Rawlins interned at the Two Mississippi Museums in Jackson, Mississippi with Kathryn Etre. Her projects included co-curating an exhibition, outdoor sculpture cleaning, and treating a set of toy soldiers and a shoeshine seat.
UCLA/Getty Conservation student Cheyenne Caraway is interning at the Autry Museum of the American West and Fine Arts Conservation this summer. Among her many projects, she consolidated and stabilized a Charro saddle, desalinated ceramic vessels, and cleaned outdoor sculpture.
This summer UCLA/Getty Conservation student Taylor Brehm has interned at the Kaymakçı Archaeological Project in western Türkiye. Some of her projects include recovering a ceramic storage vessel (pithos), reconstructing ceramic vessels, and stabilizing corrosion on metal objects.
UCLA/Getty Conservation student Rachel Moore is interning with the Midwest Art Conservation Center where she is working on a wide range of materials, from Barry Flannagan’s “Thinker on a Rock” to an Ojibew birchbark basket and a prototype model chair by Neils Diffrient.
