Now in its 17th year, OFF THE BLOCK is an annual summer documentary filmmaking workshop organized by UC Riverside.

Just over a week left to experience this stunning exhibition by Lenard Smith (@archivethestudio), featuring selections from two bodies of work: Fortuitous Encounter (2018–20) and Melancholy Objects (2022).

There's still two more weeks to view Lenard Smith (@archivethestudios): Fortuitous Encounters!The contents of Smith's assemblages range from photographic equipment and theory, to found objects and detritus, to signifiers of Black identity and culture.

Fun fact: the world's largest photograph was shot inside a converted jet hangar, using the hangar itself as the largest camera. The Great Picture, includes images of the finished photograph, the process used to create it, and commentary from the artists.
