UCU Ulster members are out at this week’s Open Days warning what 450 proposed redundancies could mean for staff, students and the future of the university.
Join @UCU_Ulster in Belfast, Thurs + Fri, 10am–12pm.
Today we showcase amazing courses, staff & students @UlsterUni
We also raise awareness of the impact of UU managers’ & council’s decision to sack 450 of our colleagues on those same courses
Join us @ 10am - talk to students, teachers & parents about how they can STOP THE CUTS
Despite this, students’ futures are jeapordised by both the inadequate resourcing of HE by Stormont, and also decisions taken by @UlsterUnii. Join us at our open day protests from 10am-12 on the Belfast campus on Thurs+Fri
Have a chat about what you can do to to Stop the Cuts
At this week’s Open Days it is important that parents and future students are aware of the implications of 450 proposed redundancies in @UlsterUni
Ulster staff continually go above and beyond to provide, an often, sector leading student experience.
@UKLabour@ucu the HE sector is a keystone of social, social and Economic capital in this country. You allow it sink or swim according to Thatcherite principles you damage widening participation; social mobility; innovation; and economic growth. It’s not a free market!
As an educationalist, the Ulster University VC should reflect carefully upon the consequences of debt driven HE to the very soul and role of education in society.

The spirit of education as enlightenment itself has been consciously warped as a consequence of UK VCs’ collective obsession with funding a false market by debt.

🎥 We are putting together a package to support and amplify every single dispute in the union.
Today is our first ever local dispute video from the brilliant Glasgow Caledonian UCU Branch who are fighting to protect jobs.
Please give it a watch and share.
A university is not a commodity.
Lincoln Bishop University is set to be effectively privatised following its takeover by Global University Systems.
Staff did not create this crisis and must not be made to pay for it.
UCU will fight to protect jobs, conditions and the university’s educational mission.

Reminder that Dolly Parton's 9 to 5 is a film about three women taking over an office and introducing free childcare, paid vacation, and flexible hours, resulting in a 20% increase in productivity.
Dolly Parton: a lover of pink, a lifelong champion of education and literacy, and a proud union member for more than five decades.
An icon in every sense.
Solidarity, always.
I would like to start this meeting by immediately departing from the agenda. Time allowing, we will return to our first item, on Organizational Efficiency and Time Management.
