🇺🇸 The US Army might soon hand every infantry squad its own pocket artillery
American Rheinmetall rolled out the HAMMR: a 40mm semi-auto grenade launcher that feeds from a magazine and weighs only about 9 pounds.
It fires programmable airburst rounds that explode right over guys hiding behind walls, plus dual-purpose shells that can punch through light armor and even take out small drones.
Effective range stretches out to around 900 meters with the new medium-velocity ammo.
A digital fire-control system does the math so the first shot has a much better chance of landing.
One soldier carries it. The whole squad suddenly has precision firepower without waiting for bigger guns.
Looks like the next step after the old XM25 got canceled.

@pcxkai@L9IQB Our j-arm is arguably the best articulating j-arm around: adjustable dovetail, handscrew, robust construction. Not as light as some others, but it is necessary keep it strong in combat. Oh, and there’s a version with auto-shutoff!
@KAPPA_NVG Unfortunately we have to go through hundreds of these replicas per month because there’s a need for large volumes of low-cost mounts. We do full reassembly and replace some screws. 6 screws that hold the plate are sometimes 1mm shorter than needed and we replace them
