Back in 1998, I was working with Wonderfoods, now Promasidor.
We were preparing to visit Lagos for our AGM and end-of-year party. I told my colleagues that the Managing Director, Mr. Ken Hall, would specially shake my hand, give me a hug, and take me around with him at the party.
They all laughed.
At the strategic meeting held at Airport Hotel, Ikeja, we were seated at the very end of the amphitheatre.
Some of the guys around us were making noise, so the MD, Mr. Ken Hall, noticed and left the high table to sit close to us.
I quickly picked up my pen and paper and drew his portrait. I tapped him gently and handed the drawing to him.
“This is me!” he exclaimed with a broad smile.
“See me at the evening party,” he said, as he neatly folded the drawing and placed it in his front pocket.
That evening at the party, I walked up to him, and immediately he brought out the drawing and began telling the managers, “Meet this great guy, he drew me.”
He shook my hand, gave me a hug, and took me around the party.
People gathered around me in amazement.
Be careful of what you say about yourself. Words carry power. Sometimes, life listens.
Good evening 😊
