“Why hasn’t soccer taken off more in America?” As a casual fan, I present to you exhibit A. Balogun has been intentionally held, kicked, fouled harder than this the entire game. Then this no intent, accidental contact foul draws red. Stupid sport can’t get out of its own way.
The corrupt mobsters of FIFA need to rescind the Balogun red card after the game. I don’t care if POTUS himself needs to intervene. We need our top goal scorer available in the next round. He did nothing wrong.
This is why Americans don’t care about this fuck ass sport dude. He’s obviously trying to play the ball but because the dude song and danced as if he’d had his leg blown off, it’s reviewed and Balogun is gone for the rest of this game AND the next.
🚨 Zlatan Ibrahimović on the inconsistency of VAR after Folarin Balogun’s red card compared to the earlier Lionel Messi challenge against Algeria:
🗣️ “Now we see the inconsistency. One player is protected, another is exposed. That is the biggest problem in football today.”
“If Balogun’s challenge is a straight red card, then people have every right to ask why similar incidents are judged differently. The rules should not change depending on the name on the back of the shirt.”
“This decision exposes the rigidity of VAR, but also its inconsistency. VAR was introduced to remove controversy, yet too often it creates even bigger arguments.”
“Football cannot have two standards—one for the biggest stars and another for everyone else. Either the law is the law, or it means nothing.”
“The fans don’t ask for perfection. They ask for consistency. They want to know that every player, whether it’s Messi, Balogun or anyone else, is judged by exactly the same standard.”
“When supporters start questioning whether reputation influences decisions, that’s dangerous for the credibility of the game. Trust in officiating disappears.”
“VAR should make football fairer, not make people wonder why identical situations end with completely different outcomes. That’s the conversation everyone will be having after this.”
@connorfabiano@SamiOnTap Unfortunately the US just lost a ton of respect for this sport. FIFA is and has always been a very corrupt organization. Pretty silly waste of time in the eyes of most Americans.
@BleacherReport@FOXSports FIFA must immediately ban Raphael Claus from ever officiating again. His disgraceful red card decision single handedly robbed the host nation. Unacceptable at any level
This is why I only watch soccer every 4 years.
Bosnia is committing physical assault constantly and can’t even draw a yellow but this leads to a red?
This ref gambles more than Sorsby.
This was the exact moment in history when Australia stopped being a free country.
NEVER, under any circumstances, should you give up your guns to the government.
