Yesterday I visited Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala, where a separate unit has been prepared to treat #Ebola patients. I'm glad for the opportunity to meet with health workers in charge and thank them for their dedication. I am very happy with all the work invested in preparedness and readiness that I have witnessed.

I commend the Government of #Uganda for the work being done to control Ebola and provide care for those affected. Uganda’s leadership has been central to the response, and @WHO remains committed to supporting national efforts to stop transmission, save lives and protect communities.

This morning, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, H.E. Sheikh Shakhboot Bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the Emirates Specialty Hospital in Entebbe.

This 100-bed hospital will cater for specialized care in ear, nose and throat (ENT), ophthalmology (eye care), maxillofacial surgeries, and other specialized head surgeries. The facility is expected to be completed and handed over by May 2027. This comes as a special gift from the UAE Government through H.E. @KagutaMuseveni and will handle referrals from across Africa.

As we angrily mourn the gruesome murder of Sydney, this story of an innocent 21yr old young man Timothy Ssemugenyi who was killed in a very similar manner in 2021 touched me so much but unlike in Sydney's case where @PoliceUg seems to be doing everything to arrest the murderers, the killers of Timothy were arrested and later released by Kabalagala Police after money exchanged hands.

This footage by @ntvuganda reveals how the parents of the poor boy were bitter for not getting justice to the extent that Police extorted money from them to secure the CCTV footage, such is our country!

The @PoliceUg should tell us how they ended the investigations into the murder of Timothy Ssemugenyi which seemed to have been a well planned motive 5yrs down the road even when the murders were known, arrested and released.😢
