This week marked the passing of Reverend Jesse Jackson. Jesse was a fearless champion for civil rights and working people.
We will never forget him coming to the picket line in Atlantic City during the 2004 strike, standing with UNITE HERE Local 54 members.
Reverend Jackson and UNITE HERE were long time allies. Our union supported his work, and Reverend Jackson regularly marched and picketed with our members. Reverend Jackson truly was a hero in the struggle for civil rights and the rights of working people.

July 2nd, 2025, marks a historic moment in our union’s proud history. For the first time in nearly four decades, our executive board was sworn in (by Ted Pappageorge from Local 226), after having been elected by acclamation — a powerful affirmation of unity, trust, and
members have in their ability to lead with integrity, vision, and commitment. As we look to the future, we are united in our mission to protect the rights of all workers, raise our standards, and build a stronger, more inclusive union for generations to come.
