@EVCurveFuturist Cherry picked (i.e. India). Great for countries with high solar insolation and low seasonal variation, not so great for countries with low solar insolation and high seasonal variation. In the latter, solar has much higher lifecycle emissions compared to wind and nuclear.
@2Wheeledbarbie Drivers are bad at this, but motorcyclists are even worse (taxi drivers aside). I've only once seen a motorcycle wait behind the first stop line of an ASL.
A scientific consensus isn't a group of scientists agreeing.
It's repeated results from independent studies all pointing the same way.
We don't agree vaccines saves lives.
We know - because study after study shows it.
Consensus = consistent evidence.
Not collective opinion.
@defencewithac As a cyclist I'd never undertake in this situation, and I'd also be wearing bright clothing and using flashing front and rear lights to increase my conspicuity.
@defencewithac It's a gloomy day and the cyclist is wearing black clothing/has no lights. 🤷
From the height of the dash cam, the cabbie is driving a minibus, reducing the BMW's rear view.
Yet the driver still spotted a small, low contrast object in a small mirror/blind spots and stopped.
@OakPaul@Wellthatsafirst@duckyboycab As a cyclist, I would slow and make sure the signalling driver has seen me and is going to yield before undertaking.
Drivers are imperfect and no amount of Highway Code rules change that, but I can control whether I insert myself into a dangerous situation or not.
@keironm@20splentyforus The 20 mph default speed limit, and the failure to listen to the population who objected to it, in whole or part, is one of the reasons why Welsh Labour was given the boot in the recent Senedd elections.
@keironm@20splentyforus The mistake The Senedd made was to not exempt through roads by default, instead they made exemptions hard and piecemeal.
Had they exempted through roads, it would have largely negated the negative impacts on drivers journey time and the economy.
@Tw_timerAlder Looking at the autumn/winter peaks, it's almost as if gas is filling in whenever renewables are generating far under their capacity, like whenever there are lulls or dunkelflaute.
That seems like a good argument for plenty of tidal lagoons/barrages to me.
So if you leave @VodafoneUK, they send you a link to view your final bill, then immediately block permission to view bills because you have left them - which genius thought that was a good idea? 🙄
The Senedd's two biggest parties are now Brexiteers (Reform) and Wexiteers (Plaid Cymru), with the latter having the most seats
It used to be said that if you pinned a Labour rosette on a sheep, people would vote for it, but for the 1st time the Senedd isn't controlled by Labour
@Tw_timerAlder@PolicygapUK Heat pumps are more difficult than gas boilers as they have to be right sized for the property. Too small and they won't sufficiently heat the property, too large and they will be expensive to run
When there are lots of subsidies, you tend to get quite a few cowboys chasing them
@dorfman_p How does that average apply to the UK and Ireland which are one of the worst countries in the world for solar insolation?
When you say firm, how much firming? Hours, a day, a week, a month, a season?
What is the lifecycle CO2eq g/GWh emissions of wind/solar plus storage?
