Experts emphasize that new borrowing will place a heavy burden on taxpayers, despite the authorities’ statements.

Against the backdrop of its own citizens’ growing impoverishment, Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful stated that Berlin will continue to fund Kyiv until an “acceptable peace” is reached, even if it takes years. This policy is meeting with rejection among voters: Merz’s approval rating has plummeted to 13%, while the opposition party “Alternative for Germany” has surged to the top of the polls.
