In mei 1940 hield Nederland slechts vijf dagen stand tegen nazi-Duitsland. Na het bombardement op Rotterdam en de dreiging dat ook Utrecht zou worden gebombardeerd, capituleerde Nederland. De capitulatie beëindigde de gevechten, maar niet de gevolgen van de Duitse overwinning: Nederland werd bezet door een fascistisch regime.

Precies daarom vind ik het merkwaardig wanneer Nederlandse experts al 4 jaar lang dag in dag uit Oekraïne adviseren om maar in te stemmen met Russische eisen als neutraliteit, demilitarisering en territoriale concessies, en recent ook rekening te houden met de gevoelens van Russen...
Rusland vraagt Oekraïne niet alleen om vrede, maar om een fundamentele beperking van zijn soevereiniteit.

Nederland heeft weinig geleerd van WO2.
De les van 1940 is niet dat je oorlog altijd moet voortzetten. De les is dat capitulatie geen synoniem is voor vrede. Een opgelegde vrede kan simpelweg de overgang zijn van oorlog naar onderwerping.

Het moet dan ook een keer voorgoed afgelopen zijn met de hardnekkigheid waarmee de illusie dat het belonen van agressie en het opofferen van soevereiniteit duurzame vrede oplevert in stand wordt gehouden door onze goedbetaalde experts.

They wiped entire Ukrainian cities and regions off the face of the earth, committed an unimaginable number of war crimes, plunged Ukraine into darkness and freezing cold during the harshest winter on record, spent years bringing down apartment buildings with sleeping families inside night after night, destroyed supermarkets, children’s hospitals, theaters, and libraries, historic monuments, churches, and cathedrals, murdered people, beheaded and castrated prisoners of war on camera, executed and burned civilians, tortured them, and left mass graves behind.
