Interested in decreasing your drinking? Take part in an online treatment study.

Researchers at the University of Kentucky are conducting a study to examine the effects of Computer Based Training for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and alcohol intake. This is a fully remote, self-paced intervention. Participants will complete an online Zoom meeting and then assessments on their own time. Participants may also receive access to self-guided alcohol treatment.

You may be eligible to participate if you are 18 years or older and:
• drink alcohol often
• are NOT getting help or treatment for alcohol use
• have NOT used drugs recently, except alcohol, nicotine, or marijuana
• a citizen/resident of the United States

Participant information will be kept confidential. Participants will be compensated for their time.

Researchers at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine are conducting a research study to better understand the effects of weight loss medications that are taken before a weight loss surgery.

You may be eligible to participate if you are 18 years or older and:
- qualify for laparoscopic or robotic sleeve gastrectomy, or gastric bypass surgery
- have a BMI of 40 or higher
- have NOT used nicotine in the last 30 days, or are planning to quit.

Researchers at the University of Kentucky are inviting you to participate in a research study about oral health in individuals with a history of opioid use disorder. The goal of the study is to learn about the risk factors that contribute to oral disease onset and progression in this population.

You may be eligible to participate if you:
- Are 18 years or older.
- Have a diagnosis of opioid use disorder and are currently receiving treatment including drug therapy (such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone) or non-drug therapy (such as counseling, abstinence).
- Have at least 5 teeth on the top and bottom of your mouth.

Have you experienced a stroke?

Researchers at the University of Kentucky are conducting a study to explore hand- and finger- movement and finger pressure changes, after someone has experienced a stroke. The study requires a 2-hour visit to the University of Kentucky’s campus at the Healthy Kentucky Research Building (HKRB) or Robotics and Manufacturing Building (RMB). If participants are unable to attend this session, they may be asked to return to campus for a make-up session.

You may be eligible to participate if you are:
- between 18 - 80 years old
- more than 2 months post-stroke
- able to sit for prolonged periods of time

Researchers at the University of Kentucky are inviting you to participate in a study about pre-diabetes and insulin resistance. Researchers are studying how certain repurposed drugs might help prevent conversion from prediabetes to diabetes. Participants will be compensated for their time.

You may be eligible to participate if you:
- are between 35 - 65 years old
- are relatively healthy
- consider yourself overweight (BMI more than 27)
- have a family history of diabetes
- have been told you’re pre-diabetic
- have no history of heart disease

Do you have plantar fasciitis?

Researchers at the University of Kentucky are conducting a study to examine the effects of wearing textured insoles on gait and balance, for people with plantar fasciitis (PF). PF is a common condition that causes pain in the heel or the bottom of the foot. Researchers will test pain levels, gait, and balance during 2 study-visits, each lasting one hour. The goal of the study is to examine if the textured insoles can improve function in people with PF.

You may be eligible to participate if you:
• are 18–55 years old
• have experienced PF for at least 3 months
• can walk continuously at a self-selected pace for at least 20 minutes
• have NOT had surgery on your hip, knee, or ankle involving the bones, joints, or joint-supporting tissues (does not include soft-tissue surgery that did not involve a joint)

Participants will receive compensation when study visits are completed.

Could hormones be impacting your child’s attention?

The RISK Lab at the University of Kentucky is conducting a research study to examine hormone levels and their potential impact on attention span among children and teens. Interested parties will be asked to complete a phone (or) online screening to determine their child’s eligibility to participate. If eligible, (participants and their parent or guardian) will visit the lab to complete a 2-hour, in-person interview at the University of Kentucky.

Your child may be eligible to participate if they are:
• between 9 - 17 years old and menstruate
• NOT taking any hormone-based medications

Can dietary supplements improve your cognition?

Researchers at the University of Kentucky are conducting a study to determine the effects of dietary supplements on cognitive performance in a mild traumatic brain injury and concussion patient population. Participants will undergo pre-and post-intervention assessments prior to and following consumption of dietary supplement.

You may be eligible to participate if you:
• are 18-55 years old
• are not pregnant or nursing
• have no pre-injury history of a psychiatric disorder
• are not involved with active ligation resulting from your injury
• are not currently taking opioids
• have not been diagnosed with diabetes
• have not been previously diagnosed with hypertension or gallbladder disease.
• do not have any known food allergies

Had a concussion recently?

Researchers at the University of Kentucky invite you to participate in a research study that explores the sex-related differences among those who have experienced a concussion, or mild traumatic brain injury. Researchers will examine how a concussion may potentially impact walking and multitasking, balance, reaction time, and how different parts of the brain work together.

Participants will complete all testing in two separate visits to UK’s campus.

You may be eligible to participate if you:
- are 18 to 40 years old and physically active
- had a concussion diagnosed by a medical provider within the last year

You are invited to participate in a community-based research study about a testing strategy in Kentucky that is essential to minimize risks to communities, healthcare infrastructure, and the economy.
