@RnaudBertrand There is something I do not understand about Chinese diaspora. They assume that West is so good and China is so bad that it needs to be destroyed with such narratives. Meanwhile, Canada and Denmark were sterilising indigenous populations not too long ago. It’s so funny tbh
@eldivine It is really not good - these guys controlled the Chinese car market for decades. Yet, they failed to see the shift to EV/PHEV and subsequently lost the market. For decades, the Chinese market subsidised the EU factories. VW spent money on share buybacks, not R&D. So sad!!
@OpeYeemiii Not only that - they heavily patented and blocked anyone who tried to do same. Chinese players took a different path to hybrid and beat them at the same game
@pstAsiatech That’s a Huawei workaround - not a country wide capability. It gives you 2-3nm performance but it’s not a 2-3nm chip. It’s a workaround. They entire country needs to double down and get a few EUVs out say by 2028-2030
@lithos_graphein@Moaney_Hole As aspected - short loops are were they should be now. But again, they are not competing with ASML. They are surviving a global embargo and will work with anything they can work with
@lithos_graphein Thousands of engineers, physicists and scientists working on something. Tongji university, CIOMP, SIOM, HUST - etc. Billions available to iterate quickly and solve a problem, and we think it will take them 20 years? We have more scientific tools now to accelerate the process.
@walterpols@JChengWSJ@crmiller1 Also, they only intensified efforts post 2022 when Biden’s policies forced them. They’ll crack the EUV sooner than we expect. It doesn’t have to beat ASML - it just has to work well enough for them.
@walterpols@JChengWSJ@crmiller1 I’m not sure how well you’ve researched the Chinese semiconductor supply chain but they’ve pretty much done a great job at every segment. But they have thousands working on this. This is not unknown physics. ASML had to figure it out from scratch, China does not.
@eldivine@NuesDaily No - that is not why inflation is 19%. GPD is = Consumption + Government Spending + Investment + Net Exports.
Nigeria's inflation is driven by supply-side shocks, not by too much money chasing too few goods. We don't even have enough goods for money to chase.
@JChengWSJ@crmiller1 It is also about incentives: Why make or build what you can buy? Being cut off from supply means you have to invent or build it yourself. It doesn't mean you are losing - you are on a different path. I am sure Cox and Wolf thought the same, before China became a peer competitor.
@JChengWSJ@crmiller1 He is so wrong. This is not about figuring it out late. It is about being forced to reinvent every part of a global supply chain because a group of people decided to cut someone else off. And it wasn't taken seriously until Biden's 2022 policies.
