This video was recorded by one of Dr. Dhiya’s patients in #London after their in which they shared their experience and expressed their feelings. I've recorded a little video and attached it.I hope it looks fine.Again, thank you so much Dr #Dhiya_Houssien, I am feeling amazing today!

A study published in Arthritis Care & Research in September 2025 evaluated sleep disturbances (baseline predictor) and pain interference (primary outcome) in 502 patients with early #rheumatoid_arthritis over a 24-month period. The study demonstrated a significant association between #sleep disturbances and subsequent pain interference scores. These findings highlight the importance of addressing sleep disorders immediately after the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis as part of pain management strategies, which may contribute to improved long-term pain outcomes.
Inflammation may also play a major role in the relationship between sleep disturbance and pain. A study published in Nature in 2023 showed that sleep deprivation can increase levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, potentially leading to worsening pain. This inflammatory response may act as a biological mediator linking disturbed sleep with increased pain interference.
In addition, Arthritis Care & Research published a 2025 study involving data from 48 adult patients with rheumatoid arthritis to investigate the relationship between sleep disturbances, fatigue, and stress. The study found that self-reported poor sleep duration, reduced sleep efficiency, and poor sleep quality were all significantly associated with greater fatigue among patients.
Taken together, these findings suggest that sleep disturbances may contribute not only to the onset and persistence of pain in rheumatoid arthritis, but also to increased fatigue, stress, and overall symptom burden.
Holistic medicine targets the submerged part of the iceberg, focusing on underlying causes such as chronic inflammation, immune dysregulation, gut microbiome imbalance, environmental triggers, and lifestyle factors. Instead of only managing visible symptoms, it aims to restore balance, support the body’s healing mechanisms, and address the root contributors driving autoimmune disease progression.
Cureus (2025) published a cross-sectional study involving 119 adults with radiologically confirmed knee osteoarthritis in India. The study reported a significant association between elevated serum fluoride levels and greater OA severity. Use of untreated underground water was linked to higher risk, whereas reverse osmosis purification correlated with improved pain and function outcomes. These findings suggest fluoride exposure may contribute to OA progression, underscoring the importance of safe water access and routine surveillance.
A 2024 Rheumatology International review of 102 studies (2000–2023) evaluated lifestyle interventions in systemic lupus erythematosus. Mental health and exercise improved depression, anxiety, fatigue, aerobic capacity, and quality of life. Low-fat and Mediterranean diets may reduce cardiovascular risk, while photoprotection was effective. Lifestyle modifications are recommended as adjuncts, not substitutes, to pharmacotherapy.
In a holistic approach for osteoarthritis, you have to manage osteoarthritis effectively and educate yourself through patient programs, self-management courses, and support groups. Participate in physical therapy, including exercises like walking and cycling, to strengthen muscles and improve flexibility. Sleep early and with quality, reduce stress, maintain a healthy weight, and consider omega-3 supplements for inflammation relief. Additional therapies, such as heat/cold treatments and assistive devices, can enhance daily functioning. In our clinic, we've found that laser acupuncture therapy significantly alleviates osteoarthritis pain and improves function, particularly when combined with physical therapy and lifestyle adjustments.
Homocysteine may result from enzyme and/or vitamin folate, vitamins B6 and B12) deficiencies. Hyperhomocysteinemia (elevated homocysteine levels) is frequently observed in patients with autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Hashimoto's disease and multiple sclerosis. Homocysteine is playing a role in the development, severity and progression of autoimmune diseases.
Wagenaar and his colleagues from the University of Amsterdam found that the 16-week #Plants for #Joints" (PFJ) intervention significantly improved disease activity in #rheumatoid_arthritis patients. A two-year follow-up showed sustained reductions in the #Disease_Activity_Score (DAS28) and medication use. Most participants maintained #health_improvements, indicating that #lifestyle modifications, including #diet and #physical_activity, can have lasting benefits in managing RA.
The study published in Science Translational Medicine provides compelling evidence of a direct link between #periodontal_disease and #rheumatoid_arthritis (RA). It examines how oral bacteria related to periodontal disease may contribute to RA flare-ups, particularly in joints. The researchers tracked changes in blood samples from women with RA, finding that those with severe periodontal disease had higher bacterial influx into the bloodstream, along with #antibodies targeting citrullinated proteins. These antibodies, while aimed at #oral_bacteria, mistakenly attack similar proteins in #joints, leading to RA #inflammation and #pain. This suggests that good #oral_hygiene might help manage RA symptoms
#Stress can trigger the release of hormones like #cortisol, affecting the immune system's functioning. Many retrospective studies indicate that stress can play a significant role (up to 80%) in both the onset and exacerbation of #autoimmune_diseases such as #Rheumatoid_Arthritis, #Multiple_Sclerosis, #Inflammatory_bowel_disease and #Systemic_lupus_erythematosus. Also, the disease itself causes considerable stress in patients, creating a vicious cycle.
#World_Arthritis_Day (WAD) is observed annually on October 12. The day aims to raise awareness about rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs), which affect millions of people worldwide. In 2024, the focus will be on empowering individuals with accurate information to make informed health choices.
#Garlic has been studied for its potential benefits in managing #arthritis symptoms due to its #anti-inflammatory and #antioxidant properties. Allicin, a compound found in garlic, may help reduce inflammation and pain associated with arthritis. Also, it contains diallyl disulphine, a compound that may help reduce #cartilage_damaging_enzymes. A long-term study showed that women whose diets were rich in allium vegetables, such as garlic, had lower levels of #osteoarthritis. Other studies have shown its effect on reducing #inflammation, #pain and #fatigue associated with #rheumatoid_arthritis
#Herbs can play a supportive role in managing #rheumatoid_arthritis (RA) due to their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. #Turmeric, containing curcumin, is widely recognized for reducing #inflammation. #Ginger also offers similar benefits and can help alleviate #pain. #Boswellia_serrata has shown promise in reducing #joint_swelling and improving mobility. Always consult a healthcare professional before adding any herbs to your treatment regimen, as they can interact with medications.
The relationship between #diet and #autism has gained significant interest from researchers, parents, and healthcare professionals. Some families report improvements with #gluten_free or #casein_free_diets, while others focus on balanced nutrition such as diet rich in #fruits, #vegetables, #whole_grains, and #lean_proteins to support overall health. It's essential to consult healthcare professionals before making dietary changes, ensuring nutritional needs are met for individuals with autism.
The connection between #food and #mood is a fascinating topic that explores how what we eat can influence our emotional well-being. Nutrient-rich foods like #fruits, #vegetables, and whole #grains boost #serotonin levels, promoting #happiness. Conversely, #sugary and #processed_foods can lead to #mood_swings and #fatigue.
The #gluten_free_diet has become entirely popular within the past few years. Several studies showed that this diet could improve patients with autoimmune conditions such as #irritable_bowel_syndrome (IBS), type 1 #diabetes, #hashimiti_thyroiditis and #rheumatoid_arthritis. Bruzzese et al 2021 recommended that a gluten-free diet may improve symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, even in patients resistant to #conventional_drug therapies.
