Through partnerships such as the UK-Ayrton Fund, TEA, MECS, GET FiT, Mission 300, the @WorldBankGroup ,@AfDB_Group , innovation is moving from pilot projects to everyday reality from electric mobility to clean cooking solutions. As we pursue our ambitious 2030 targets of quadrupling renewable generation, doubling clean cooking access,
and reaching 85% electricity access, Uganda stands ready not only to participate in the global energy transition, but to help lead it. Grateful to the Rt Hon. Today at the Ayrton Forum in London, I reflected on what five years leading Uganda’s energy sector which reinforced a fundamental truth: energy is not merely an infrastructure challenge as it is a development imperative. It sits at the intersection of economic growth, industrialisation, healthcare, education and human dignity. Where energy reaches, opportunity follows.: , these experiences shaped Uganda’s conviction that energy must remain at the centre of our development agenda. Today, Uganda boasts over 2,000MW of installed capacity, one of Africa’s cleanest energy mixes, and electricity access that has grown from under 15% to over 60% in just two decades.
