Guarding Humanity: ACZ Stands Firm Against Human Trafficking
An airport is far more than a point of departure; it is the ultimate shield where vigilance safeguards human dignity and protects vulnerable lives. Yesterday, on World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, @Airports_Zim was honoured to anchor the national commemoration at R.G. Mugabe Int. Airport under the UN theme, “Trapped Behind the Scam.”
In a joint effort with the Anti-Trafficking Inter-Ministerial Committee (ATIMC), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE), A21, and the British Embassy, ACZ opened its primary gateway to train frontline stakeholders, from aviation security and immigration to ground support, to spot indicators of forced criminality and recruitment fraud.
By deploying our airport infrastructure for technical walk-ins, interactive passenger awareness and frontline capacity building, ACZ is in sync with its promise of delivering safe, secure and world-class airport operations, ensuring that Zimbabwe's skies remain a sanctuary of safe migration, defense and human dignity.

🦕 A new dinosaur species from the Late Triassic has been discovered in Zimbabwe!
It was around 4.5 metres long, weighed about the same as a pig and walked on two legs. But what was it related to?
Together with partners, the UK marked World Day Against Trafficking in Persons at RGM International today.
Human trafficking disproportionately affects women, children and vulnerable communities.
Speaking at the event, @AbbotJo said: “Behind every statistic is a human story.”
“Behind every trafficking statistic is a person whose trust has been abused, whose choices have been taken away, and whose future has been placed at risk”. Hearing from 🇿🇼 survivors was deeply moving & helped ground our training in the realities of being “trapped behind the scam”
If you share #Chevening’s vision and have a realistic plan to influence positive change in areas of shared priority for the UK and Zimbabwe, applications for the 2027–28 Chevening Scholarships will open on 4 August and close on 6 October 2026.
