We're the trade body for the UK onshore oil and gas industry. Want to talk operations, drilling or fracking? [email protected]. Media reqs: [email protected]
@horton_official@RenewableUK Hmm, I think @UKOOGroup and the developers it represents might disagree Helena. Shale gas is by far the most disadvantaged of any energy infrastructure projects
CCUS could store up to 78 BN tonnes of carbon, approx 180 times the UK’s annual greenhouse gas emissions.
It will also:
Add up to £5 billion to the economy by 2050💷
Support up to 50,000 jobs in 2030👷♀️
Help meet Net Zero targets💡
But what is & how will it grow the economy?
Given wind and solar energy are both dictated by weather conditions, they are by definition unreliable sources of energy.
The UK would also need significant improvements in storage solutions if it were to depend entirely on renewables.
Union Jack plays its role by ensuring a stable supply of onshore oil, helping provide a trustworthy energy source while the UK moves towards a Net Zero Carbon future.

Writing about the Horse Hill planning case, the failure of radical activists to understand trade offs, and moderate politicians the folly of empowering them with virtue signalling climate laws. @iealondon@spectator

Labour has pledged to stop all new North Sea oil and gas projects.
Charles McAllister: “To meet our 2035 electricity target, we’d need to build the equivalent of the world’s largest offshore wind farm every 10 weeks. It takes seven to 12 years."
Julia: “I’m not sure we’re going to manage that.”
@JuliaHB1
‘Lord Frost is exasperated by the current moratorium on shale gas exploration.’
“A shale gas facility that’s about the size of Parliament Square can produce the same amount of power as a wind farm 10 times the size of Hyde Park.” That’s a good UKOOG stat! https://t.co/cJIY5RliTn
We have been made aware of a counterfeit outfit purporting to be UKOOG offering employment in the role of Office Manager with us. The offer, from an email address [email protected], should be ignored and is not genuine.
Former PM @trussliz points out the complete hypocrisy of her successors decision to reimpose the moratorium on fracking in England 👏. As she says: why on earth does importing US shale gas with a UK moratorium make economic or environmental sense- ‘it simply doesn’t’
This is @UKOOGroup chapter 1 page 1 narrative.
Why the Government think this and then don't actually apply that thinking to the onshore oil and gas industry is bewildering and infuriating.
The fact is that blocking fracking is against the national interest on any grounds.
