@Biking4Pleasure @MB25309 That's a brilliant idea. I am thinking we can get all the best ideas together and for what it's actually worth, present it to Johnny Mercer or somebody who can take the issue up and try to get something in place. I know it seems futile sometimes but we carry on do we not?

Veterans Card - What can I do with it?

What practical uses does the card have?

If the answer is 'not many' then the next question is: How do we go about changing that?

Every day I will be testing in the real world exactly what i can and cannot do with my Veterans Card.

The issue I'm trying to solve in the scenario is using it as positive, accepted ID to solve one of the major problems getting back on your feet... so unfortunately another fail.

Day 2 Reporting from the Veterans Card Challenge:

Attended Barclays. Was told that Military ID was sufficient for Photo ID, however the Veterans Card was not classed as a Military ID.
That's surely the point that needs addressing.

you are on the electoral role... and have a credit record associated with the home address. Two issues that are traditionally an issue if eg. Released from custody, been homeless, recovering from addiction, debt ... you could go on...

SCENARIO 1.
Soldier A becomes Veteran A.
Veteran A ends up with no bank account, no ID & no money. But he has a Veterans Card.

Halifax Bank: Open account 👎

I have just been reading about the Veterans Card that are few and far between... despite 1.8m veterans in England & Wales alone, only 56,000 have been distributed. I noticed at the same time they had time to form a Central Digital Data Office in early 2021. Sounds Orwellian
