On March 16, 2022, Russian forces bombed the Mariupol Drama Theatre, which had become a shelter for hundreds of civilians, including many children.

People hiding inside the building painted the word “children” in large letters outside to clearly signal their presence. Yet, Russian forces struck the theatre, and hundreds of innocent lives were lost.

​In March 2022, Mariupol, a strategic port city on Ukraine’s Sea of Azov, endured a devastating siege by Russian forces. The city, with a pre-war population of approximately 430,000, faced relentless shelling and airstrikes that led to widespread destruction and significant civilian casualties, the exact toll of which remains impossible to calculate while Mariupol remains under Russian occupation.

We will never forget the innocent lives lost that day. The bombing of the Mariupol Drama Theatre stands as one of the most appalling Russian war crimes.

Since then, the Russian military has committed thousands more war crimes. And just like then, Ukraine wants and needs just and lasting peace. Pressure on Russia should be increased to bring it closer once and for all.

Three years ago, 4-year-old Sashko Zdanovych-Yakhno was shot by Russian soldiers while attempting to evacuate from territories then occupied by Russia with his grandmother. He was one of the first victims of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.

Before the full-scale invasion began, Sashko was visiting his grandmother in the village of Sukholuchchia, the Kyiv region. Due to intense fighting and destroyed bridges, the family couldn’t evacuate and endured a Russian siege for over 2 weeks. On March 10, as Russian heavy machinery entered the village, they tried to escape, crossing the Kyiv reservoir in 2 motorboats.

One boat reached its destination, but Sashko’s boat capsized under Russian fire. His grandmother drowned, and the child disappeared without a trace. His body was found 3 weeks later, after Ukraine’s forces liberated the Kyiv region. It was confirmed that he died from a gunshot wound.

💬 "What can I say after three years? It still hurts. And it always will,” Sashko’s mother, Anna Yakhno, shared in a heartfelt post on the third anniversary of his death.

Sashko’s death is one of many horrors that demonstrate the urgent need for justice and accountability for all victims of Russia's war against Ukraine. The pain and loss inflicted by Russia’s war must stop.

25 лютого 2025 р. у Посольстві України в Республіці Білорусь відбувся комеморативний захід до третіх роковин початку повномасштабного вторгнення РФ в Україну. На заході були присутні дипломати акредитованих у Білорусі закордонних дипломатичних установ та міжнародних організацій.

Reconnaissance UAVs, FPV drones on fiber optics, ground robotic platforms, interceptor drones, electronic warfare and signals intelligence systems, communication systems, river drones, and drone missiles – all of these are actively operating on the battlefield, working and defending.

All of them are products of Ukraine’s defense industry, which has been revived and significantly developed over the past three years of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

These important items, which help our warriors, were shown to our partners at the Support Ukraine Summit. Thank you for investing in our defense production, in what helps Ukraine become stronger. This year, we will produce even more drones of all types.
