On World Poetry Day, Ukrainian war poets recorded the poem Invictus ("Unconquered") by William Ernest Henley, thanking the United Kingdom for its support of Ukraine in the full-scale war and to remind everyone that the fight for freedom against tyranny continues.
The poem has become a symbol of resilience, dignity, and strength for all who face insurmountable challenges. Notably, it was referenced by Winston Churchill during World War II, Nelson Mandela during his imprisonment, and inspired Prince Harry and his team when naming the Invictus Games - a competition for injured servicemen.
The video features poets Pavlo Vyshybaba, Mykola Antoshchak, Oleksii Karchakov and Artur Dron, as well as writer and veteran Pavlo Matyusha.
The project was created by Ukraine WOW in collaboration with @avrora_official, and with the support of Cultural Forces.
