Overnight, Russia “responded” to its destroyed aircraft… by attacking civilians in Ukraine.

Kyiv, Lutsk, Lviv, Ternopil, Chernihiv, Kremenchuk, and others. Multi-storey buildings hit. Energy infrastructure damaged. There are killed and wounded people throughout the country.

The difference between Ukraine and Russia is that Ukraine hits legitimate military targets—such as aircraft equipped to bomb our children. Russia targets residential areas, civilians, and critical infrastructure.

Putting Ukraine and Russia on equal footing is unacceptable. Russia is the aggressor, and Ukraine defends itself. Ukraine's strikes are self-defense, whereas Russia's are acts of aggression and terror.

Russia’s overnight attack on civilians once again demonstrates that the international pressure on Moscow must be increased as soon as possible.

Russia’s only argument is terror. Our response should be strong sanctions, which can increase the cost of war for the aggressor, and new decisions strengthening Ukraine’s defense.

Another barbaric Russian strike on Sumy has killed at least 3 people and injured 16 others. A deliberate strike on the city center and civilians there. Russian murderers continue to kill while imitating diplomacy. The only way to end the killing is to ramp up pressure on Moscow.

Ukraine has officially handed over to Russia a list of deported Ukrainian children. Now it’s time for Russia to act.

On June 2, 2025, during negotiations in Istanbul facilitated by Türkiye, Ukraine transferred to the Russian side a list of several hundred Ukrainian children who had been illegally deported to Russia, forcibly transferred within the temporarily occupied territories, or held there against their will.

This step follows Ukraine’s confirmation during the March 11 meeting in Jeddah with the United States of its readiness to implement a 30-day ceasefire.

If Moscow is serious about peace, it must prove it not with words, but with actions – beginning with the return of these children.

A difficult Sunday morning in Ukraine after a sleepless night. The most massive Russian air attack in many weeks lasted all night.

Russia launched hundreds of drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles into Ukrainian cities and communities during the night, injuring and killing people, including at least three children.

When the entire world calls for an end to the killing, Putin orders even more strikes, attacks, and murders of children.

This once again emphasizes the imperative of a full, unconditional, and durable ceasefire for any meaningful peace effort. The world must pressure Russia to accept it and put an end to the killings immediately.

Today, on Vyshyvanka Day, we celebrate this incredible tapestry of traditions that unite us as a nation. Our shared heritage, though unique in every corner of the country, binds us together as one strong, proud Ukraine.

🔍 Lesia Voroniuk, a Ukrainian cultural curator, founded Vyshyvanka Day in 2006 while still a student at Chernivtsi National University. She launched it as a flash mob to celebrate Ukrainian heritage through the wearing of embroidered shirts.

Statement by the MFA of Ukraine on the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazism in the Second World War (1939–1945)

On May 8, Ukraine and the world mark the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazism in World War II (1939–1945).

Its devastating consequences were expected to serve as a lasting lesson for future generations and as a firm guarantee of what we recall every year on this day: “Never Again!”

Today, however, we are witnessing that Russia, having launched the largest war of conquest in Europe since World War II, tries to appropriate the victory over Nazism. In reality, the greatest human and material losses were borne not by Russia, but by the countries and peoples caught between it and Nazi Germany – first and foremost, the Ukrainian people.

By emphasizing its supposed exclusive role in the victory over Nazism, the Kremlin seeks to divert attention from its crimes – both past and present, including its ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine.

We call on the international community not to allow Russia to destroy the post-war world order – one that was built on the foundations of international law and made possible by our shared victory over Nazism in World War II.

The victory over Nazism cost millions of lives — including 8 million Ukrainian lives. Remembrance means recognizing when history tries to repeat itself. Russia must be stopped now.
