Just 10% of GPs are reliving abortion serves as the threat of criminal sanctions hang over those offering them. In many cases it is not their 'conscience' that prevents them from performing termination services, it is the fear of a 14 year prison sentence.

Roe v Wade being overturned shows us what can happen if rights once won are not defended and a reactionary minority succeeds in rolling back progressive gains on equality.

A recent national womens council poll showed that 80% agree that no woman should have to travel abroad for abortion healthcare and 71% agree that abortion should not be criminalised.

Yet some 775 people have been forced to travel since the legislation has been passed!

Gender based violence is an epidemic. 249 women have died due to femicide between 1996 and now. Only 196 of those cases have been resolved. In almost all of murder-suicide cases the murder was the woman’s partner.
