In 1861 Giuseppe Fiorelli, director of excavations in Pompeii, proposed the idea of a formal onsite museum: The Antiquarium. Up until then, only very few excavated objects were displayed on site. One such repository was the Temple of Vespasian on the Forum. #ThrowbackThursday
