Michigan Audubon recently named UM-Dearborn its first-ever Bird City Michigan Campus. The designation recognizes campuses that actively support bird conservation through habitat protection, sustainability practices, education and community engagement. For UM-Dearborn's Environmental Interpretive Center, the recognition reflects years of work focused on understanding and protecting our campus's unique ecosystem.

Senior Christian Nwobu is co-developing a system that enables swarms of autonomous space drones to communicate with one another using light. The research in Assistant Professor of Computer and Information Science Xiao Zhang’s lab is supported by the Michigan Space Grant Consortium.
