After making the complaint public yesterday, having personally witnessed the egregious violation of the rights of two young Nigerians including Bayero University Kano (BUK) student Maryam Isah Shehu, the @officialEFCC has now terminated the charges against them.

Unfortunately, the Federal High Court judge who sat yesterday and remanded them in Kuje and Suleja prisons respectively has not sat all day today, so their release is still being delayed.

We are glad that wisdom finally prevailed at the @officialEFCC

We must also thank Deji Adeyanju, @adeyanjudeji who, despite being on vacation in Paris, weighed in heavily; human rights attorneys @Abbahikima and Hamza N Dantani; and all the lawyers on the ground, particularly Chimela, Esq who have not rested all day, working tirelessly on the necessary paperwork to secure their freedom.

I was also informed that the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (@NANSNIG was at the Federal High Court today to lend its support and help secure Maryam’s freedom. Their solidarity is greatly appreciated.

We sincerely hope that Justice Joyce Abdulmalik will still show up and sit, even briefly, today so that Maryam can regain her freedom and commence her final examinations tomorrow.

If that does not happen in time, we urge the authorities of Bayero University Kano @BUK_Nigeria to take special notice of the extraordinary circumstances surrounding her detention and ensure that she is given the opportunity to rewrite any examinations she misses as a direct consequence of her detention.

An injustice against one is an injustice against all.

No one shall be left behind!

It is easy to look the other way because he is not your headache, and perhaps because you don’t consider him a nice person. But that is exactly how oppression works, it becomes acceptable when the victim is someone we dislike. A just society is defined not only by its laws, but by its commitment to fairness, due process, and timely justice. As this matter continues, we respectfully call on the relevant authorities to ensure it is handled transparently, fairly, and without unnecessary delay.

I had to come back and rewatch this. A lot of hypocrisy was displayed. We all saw how they ganged up to ensure he wasn’t confirmed. They saw him as more tactical, intelligent, smart, & brilliant than many of them. This has only reaffirmed my thoughts about the so-called petition.

Goodluck Jonathan’s denial of the alleged ₦500 billion offer should remind Nigerians of one important thing: not every former president is desperate to become a pawn in somebody else’s political chessboard.

The rumour itself was heavy.

That Tinubu allegedly offered Jonathan ₦500 billion to challenge Peter Obi, split votes and distort the opposition space is the kind of story that exposes how low Nigerian politics has fallen in the minds of many citizens.

But Jonathan has now denied receiving such an offer.

That denial matters.

Love him or disagree with him, Jonathan has built a post-presidential image around peace, restraint and democratic dignity. He is not perfect. No politician is. But since leaving office, he has carried himself with a level of calm that many Nigerian leaders should study.

This is the same man who conceded power when many expected chaos.

This is the same man who placed national stability above personal ambition.

This is the same man who has become a symbol of peaceful democratic transition in Africa.

So dragging his name into every desperate political rumour without proof is unfair.

Nigerians must learn to separate real politics from propaganda. If anyone has evidence of such a ₦500 billion offer, let them present it. But if there is no evidence, then Jonathan’s name should not be used as a weapon in the battle between Tinubu, Obi and the opposition.

The real issue is bigger than Jonathan.

It is about trust.

It is about the fear that desperate politicians can use money, manipulation and fake alliances to divide Nigerians before 2027.

That fear exists because the current political climate is already polluted by suspicion.

Jonathan’s denial helps clear his name from this particular allegation, but it also raises a bigger question: why do Nigerians now find such stories believable?

Because people no longer trust the system.

Because they believe power can buy almost anything.

Because they have seen enough betrayal, political deals and vote-splitting games.

Jonathan should not be reduced to that.

His legacy deserves more seriousness.

If he enters any political conversation, it should be on his own terms, with dignity, clarity and national purpose, not as a rumoured tool for anyone’s survival strategy.

Nigeria needs cleaner politics.

Jonathan has spoken.

Let evidence lead, not gossip.

Kwankwaso received a lot of money from this government. In December 2023 alone, he received ₦1 billion and ₦50,000, supposedly to build a house.

He also received ₦525 million to build an office. Then, still in December 2023, he received another ₦1.2404 billion to purchase two vehicles.

Furthermore, in June 2024, he received ₦100.08 million for medical expenses, and another ₦510.213 million for a vacation.
These are funds he received from the Kano State Treasury. I am not making false accusations against him. If he disagrees, he should take me to court.
