In many communities, some households are understandably uncomfortable allowing male technicians into their homes for technical support.
That simple reality is one of the reasons we are empowering women through the NASENI Sustainable Empowerment Programme (NSEP).
We have trained women across Kumbotso and Tarauni LGAs in Kano State in solar installation, maintenance, and repairs, equipping them to build sustainable livelihoods while expanding access to clean energy in their communities.
We believe technology creates its greatest impact when it solves real human problems.

Managing cross-country grantees portfolios in policy/research entrepreneurship/innovation via partnerships across borders - endless learning
Started 2026 with @TheRISAFund close-out across Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa.
Four years of learning by doing around research commercialisation, partnerships, and research for impact.
This week has been deeply engaging and impactful for our investment promotion efforts.
Earlier in the week, I had the privilege of hosting the Research and Innovation Systems for Africa (RISA) Fund and the Coalition Network of Stakeholders in Agricultural Mechanization (CONESAM) teams in my office under the Adam Smith International. The discussions centered on the upcoming National Agricultural Mechanization and Innovation Summit (NAMIS25) and other strategic initiatives aimed to drive agri investment and mechanization in our agricultural sector in Kano.
I also had the opportunity to represent the Deputy Governor of Kano, Com. Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, at the Made in Nigeria Trade Exhibition held at the National Assembly complex, organized by the House Committee on Commerce. The event brought together industry stakeholders, policy leaders, and exhibitors showcasing Nigeria’s manufacturing potential and explored collaborations with other economies.
I concluded the week with delivering a keynote address at the maiden Northern Creative Conference hosted by Sparklab Innovation Hub in Kano, where I shared the vast investment potential of our creative sector, financing mechanisms and potential funding opportunities available through federal programs, DFIs, and other investors.
Overall, the engagements reflect the unwavering commitment of His Excellency, Governor Abba K Yusuf to firmly position Kano as a leading destination for investment, and economic opportunity.

Report: FX reforms, exit challenges have slowed down venture capital investments in Nigeria
A report by the Impact Investors Foundation (IIF) says foreign exchange (FX) reforms and exit challenges have slowed down venture capital (VC) and private equity (PE) investments into Nigeria in the last four years.
On June 14, 2023, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) commenced the FX reforms by officially unifying the multiple FX rate systems, collapsing all FX windows into the investors’ and exporters’ (I&E) window.
In the report by IIF titled ‘Nigerian Impact Investment Landscape 2025,’ launched on Wednesday, during the 8th Annual Convening on Impact Investing (ACII) conference in Lagos state, the foundation said investments dropped from $1.14 billion in 2022 to $939.5 million in 2023.
