I'm of the opinion that everything was of infinite length until the units of measurement came into place.

How so? Well…

If √2 were truly innately irrational, then a square of side lengths 1 unit would be physically impossible, because dividing the square diagonally yields a diagonal of length √2, which supposedly has infinite digits that never settle.
