Today, ICE fatally shot a husband, father, and member of Maine’s immigrant community. ICE’s rogue actions have now come to our state in the worst way imaginable — with the death of a fellow Mainer. This isn’t the America I want to live in.

Enough is enough. Susan Collins voted to send $70 billion dollars to ICE with no reforms. I’d abolish it altogether. We need to come together as a community and demand a better future.

I agree with you 100% about degrees. I also believe they devalue certain careers (nurses, teachers, social workers, etc.) for the exact same reasons. Truly want to change the world get advanced degrees in education and nursing then come home to the community.

“[Atul Gawande] wrote a Nov. 5 article in the New Yorker about the devastating impact of the loss of USAID funds around the world … In the article, Gawande cited an analysis in The Lancet that estimated that USAID assistance—aimed at combatting diseases such as HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, and polio, reducing maternal and child deaths, and fighting malnutrition—had saved 92 million lives over two decades.

“The dismantling of USAID, according to models from Boston University epidemiologist Brooke Nichols, ‘has already caused the deaths of six hundred thousand people, two-thirds of them children,’ Gawande wrote.”

Graham knew this issue more than most in Congress. He knew the suffering. He knew that people would die if the aid was cut. But, he cheered its cutting for political reasons, to do Trump’s budding and stay in the circle of power.
