What we hear in the film itself is the song sung entirely in Sindarin:

“Mithrandir, Mithrandir, O Grey Pilgrim. No more will you wander the green fields of this earth. Your journey has ended in darkness. The bonds are cut, the spirit broken. The Flame of Anor has left this world. A great light has gone out.”

But the full version of the song goes even further. It begins in Quenya:

“Olórin, who once was sent by the Lords of the West to guard the lands of the East, wisest of all the Maiar, why did you leave the land that you loved?”

The film mourns Gandalf’s death, while the complete song remembers who he was long before he became Gandalf.
