Enjoyed participating in a validation workshop of a diagnostic assessment of #SouthSudan National Ecosystem for the implementation of a Social Registry in #SouthSudan, together with Honorable Aya Benjamin Warile, Minister of Gender, Child, and Social Welfare and other @SouthSudanGov senior officials. @WorldBankGroup is partnering with the Government to explore how the country can design and implement a Social Registry which is critical for modernizing the digital social protection delivery system in #South Sudan. A well-developed social registry can serve as a gateway for the identification and selection of beneficiaries and can contribute to reduced duplication, and improved service delivery to vulnerable populations in #SouthSudan.
Excited to participate in the launch of #SouthSudan Natural Resources Review (NRR) report together with Honorable Rizik Zakaria Hassan, Minister of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism @SouthSudanGov. Cash transfers provide for resilience among the poor. #WorkdBankGroup is committed to partner with Government to deliver for the people of South Sudan.
Today the #WorldBank presented its South Sudan Poverty and Equity Assessment. The #PEA provides a nuanced understanding of the country’s poverty dynamics based on available data. Delighted to have Honorable Dr. Marial Dongrin Ater, Minister of Finance and Planning to launch the report and provide his insight as well. The #PEA paints a tough picture with 99.7% of South Sudanese either in poverty or vulnerable to falling into poverty. @SouthSudanGov needs to invest in #HumanCapital, improve #FoodSecurity and address governance challenges and drivers of conflicts in the country.
Great to engage with business leaders at a Business Community Outreach Seminar organized by the @WorldBankGroup in partnership with #PPDAA. Goal was to help local businesses make the most of opportunities from government procurement, including on World Bank financed projects. #WBG supports a strong public procurement system in @SouthSudanGov institutions as central to effective service delivery and #PrivateSectorDevelopment.
