Pop isn’t as involved as people think. But the “Spurs way” he created is the North Star for the new regime to do things authentically their own way w/help from the greats.

Charlotte responds to Philadelphia’s G1 gut punch & AI’s 40 points; Hornets tie their R1 series 1-1 with a 108-98 overtime win
After Iverson’s game one explosion, the Hornets managed to hold him to just 13 PTS on a woeful 5/21 FG%.
Derrick Coleman had one of his best games as a Hornet, and helped propel Charlotte to an OT period where they didn’t miss but a singular shot attempt (8/9 FG):
29 PTS, 7 AST, 6 REB, 4 BLK, and 1 STL. Coleman was 10/15 from the floor, and had a 30.2 game score… 30-point or more game scores are harder to stumble across.
“You’ve got to expect a team like Charlotte to make a run,” Sixer guard Aaron McKie told Rick Bonnell post game. “We just didn’t put them away when we had the chance.”
Philly, you would’ve thought, had the momentum going into overtime; the 76ers had forced a miss on a game-winning shot attempt by Eddie Jones in the waning seconds.
The 76ers would proceed to only hit 3 shots in all 5 minutes of OT.
Despite what would inevitably happen in this series… this was a big win for the city of Charlotte, with relocation rumors awhirl.
The Hornets finished hotter than any team in the league this year, and there was a feeling amongst fans that, if they went deep in the playoffs this ‘99-‘00 season, things could (maybe) change.
While that didn’t happen…
It’s important to highlight games like these where someone like Derrick Coleman performed like he did.
Coleman had never won a playoff series up to this point in his career, and someone had to put the Hornets on their back. Eddie Jones didnt have it early in this series.
Final 45 seconds + full OT Highlights are below, with the Bonnell newspaper clipping to match:
Moving to Charlotte is NOT the flex ppl think it is. It’s nothing special here. It’s expensive, a lot of traffic, congestion, a bunch of construction and the jobs don’t even pay that well. 🤷🏾♂️
How are you still employed on a national network? I guess since your days of being on Lebron's sack are coming to an end you have to resort to these super trash hot takes.....🤡🤡🤡
Send it in.
The Hornets get to compete for the East with Giannis leading Kon & Brandon Miller.
The Bucks get to be super popular on TikTok while they rebuild.
