If this independent autopsy truly contained evidence that Nolan Wells was murdered or foul play is suspected, why would anyone sit on that evidence until July 22 so it could be unveiled onstage at the NAACP National Convention?

How SAD this whole case has become. They have stripped Nolan of all dignity. So have all the racist, unhinged people online.

Evidence of murder is not a convention announcement. It is not a promotional event. It is not something you save for the biggest audience and the most dramatic political backdrop. But this is what Ben Crump does.

If you find something, you make that known and you turn it over to investigators. You demand that law enforcement act. You work with prosecutors to identify a suspect, preserve evidence, obtain warrants and pursue an arrest. You do this quietly so you can catch those at fault. You do not SCHEDULE the announcement days later as though you are teasing a major media exclusive.

This alone tells me they likely found nothing.

That is the glaring logical inconsistency: they are presenting these supposed “findings” as urgent enough to suggest Nolan was murdered, but apparently not urgent enough to pursue immediate legal action. Instead, Nolan’s death is being packaged for maximum publicity at a national convention.

Nolan Wells deserves a legitimate investigation - not to be used as a prop for publicity, fundraising, political influence or racial activism.

Mariam Yahia Ibrahim, a Sudanese Christian and medical doctor, was sentenced to 100 lashes and death by hanging after refusing to renounce her Christian faith.

Because Sudan considered her Muslim through her absent father, the court convicted her of apostasy despite her lifelong confession of Christ. According to them, she could not be a Christian, married to a Christian, in this Muslim majority country. She was given three days to recant. She refused.

At the time (in 2014), Meriam was eight months pregnant and already caring for her young son in prison. She spent months chained to a prison floor with her 1-year-old son by her side.

While shackled, she gave birth to her daughter, Maya, inside the prison. Her execution was delayed because of the pregnancy, but she remained imprisoned until an international outcry led an appeals court to overturn her conviction and order her release.

Looking back on her ordeal, Meriam said she was not afraid. "Being in prison strengthened my faith even more," she told CBN News.

A US senator killed a 28 year old woman, left her to drown, spent zero days in jail, and then served 40 more years in the Senate. 57 years ago tonight. Almost nobody remembers her name.

57 years ago tonight, July 18 1969, on a tiny island called Chappaquiddick that most Americans could not find on a map, the most infamous car accident in US history happened while the entire world was staring at the sky waiting for men to walk on the moon.

Senator Ted Kennedy left a cottage party for the "Boiler Room Girls," the young women who had worked themselves to exhaustion on his brother Bobby's campaign the year before Bobby was shot, and he drove off with 28 year old Mary Jo Kopechne around 11:15 pm. He said he was taking her to the ferry.

Instead the car went off the Dike Bridge, a narrow wooden bridge with no guardrail, and flipped upside down into the black tidal water of Poucha Pond. Kennedy got out. Mary Jo did not.

And here is the part history never forgave: he did not knock on the lit up house just yards away that had a phone, he did not call police, he walked back to the party and then he went to bed.

He reported it roughly 10 hours later, the next morning, only after two fishermen had already found the car and her body. The diver who pulled her out, John Farrar, said she had likely survived for a while inside an air pocket and might be alive today if anyone had simply called for help that night.

Two days later Neil Armstrong stepped onto the moon, and so the greatest achievement in human history shared the front page with a drowned woman and a senator who waited until sunrise.

The punishment for all of it: a guilty plea to leaving the scene, a two month suspended sentence, not a single day served. He kept his Senate seat for 40 more years until he died in 2009, one of the most powerful men in the country.

Strip away the famous last name and you are left with something painfully simple. A young woman trusted the wrong man to drive her home, and he chose himself.

Say her name tonight. Not his. Mary Jo Kopechne.
