We are back!
Our committee members have been out with the @WLUNDP1961 to support the striking workers of CUPE 1656 and to protest the WCDSB trustees who are trying to push a motion to ban pride flags in schools.
Apparently determined to make this process as long and arduous as possible, Laurier has hired union-busting lawyers to argue that our union vote was invalid, no matter the results. Here’s what you need to know. (1/4) 🧵
The case will be going to a hearing, scheduled for early July. We will not know the vote results and therefore not have a union until at least then. Instead of giving us the chance to negotiate a fair deal, Laurier is spending our tuition dollars on union-busting lawyers. (4/4)

We know Laurier doesn’t really have a case and thought they would drop it immediately. Things didn’t pan out that way. Laurier’s lawyers are sticking to their guns and the ballot box will not be opened until both parties or the OLRB agree on what an IA is. (3/4)
35,000 CRA workers, in the Public Service Alliance of Canada union, go on strike tomorrow. Workers are striking for: pay increases to keep up with inflation, & ending outsourcing and overwork.

Our certification meeting will be held on May 3rd in which parties will discuss the matter alongside OLRB representatives. Thanks you to all who voted!
The polls are now closed!
Laurier is arguing that Markers and Proctors are also considered Undergraduate Instructional Assistants. The matter will be settled at the Ontario Labour Relations Board. The OLRB has sealed the ballot box until parties agree on the bargaining unit
Here's a message of support from @OntarioNDP leader @maritstiles! Our allies in Queen's Park wish us well as our organizers work to pull the vote before polls close at 2pm today
