1,000 days.
Today, that’s how long the RCMP's Doug Ford-Greenbelt criminal investigation has gone on for.
We know:
❌ Ford tried to axe 7,400 Greenbelt acres
❌ The Conservatives tried to give their developer buddies a route to get rich quick
⁉️ Almost nothing about the investigation
This July 13, we're writing postcards to the RCMP to find out what’s going on.
The public deserves to know.

NEW - NDP Leader Marit Stiles holds a news conference to mark the Ford government being under RCMP investigation for 1000 days. There have been no updates form the Mounties regarding their probe into the greenbelt land swap.
Doug Ford voted down the Ontario NDP's solutions to lower grocery bills and offered nothing of his own.
Ontarians literally can't afford it: grocery prices have risen faster than inflation every month for over a year and a half.
That's why we're pushing for real action:
✅ No tax on food
✅ Ban surveillance pricing
✅ End property controls that block competition
✅ Expand the Ontario Food Terminal
Hello Christie Pits 👋
On the hottest day of the year so far, it was great to hear what was on people’s minds:
🏠 Freezing rent
❄️ Cooling AC in apartments
🛩️ Stopping jets at Billy Bishop and putting Ford’s expansion plans on ice🧊
Next stop: Ice Cream social at Huron St Playground (6-8pm), this Thursday July 9 🗓️
Great to stop by @fiestafarms to present their @FoodlandOnt Silver Award: this is what Buy Ontario can look like.
🍎 Their staff are putting Ontario produce front and centre here in Seaton Village - with Fiesta's Red Prince apples grown in Winter, stored in Spring, and enjoyed in Summer.
One of only two Toronto grocery stores to receive this award, Fiesta is also the only independent grocer to be recognized in our city.
It should never pay to illegally evict a tenant like Isidoro.
While he risked being homeless, his landlord was getting ready to sell the property for more than $2 million dollars.
I will be introducing a bill to bring in stronger rules, better enforcement, and bigger fines to protect tenants.
We need to make sure what has happened to Isidoro never happens to another renter.

Last year, 92 year old Isidoro was evicted from his 1 bedroom apartment – by a landlord who said he was going to move into Isidoro’s tiny unit.
We knew it was an illegal eviction back then. Now the evidence is there for all to see, as the building is put up for sale for $2.27 million dollars.
This shouldn’t be happening to Isidoro. It shouldn’t be happening to anyone.
Renters fight together, and win together.
This week, people throughout our community came together at our Renters’ Action Night to:
🏠 Share their experiences as a renter
🔎 Look at the challenges we're facing
🤝 Source the solutions we need to make life as renter in our city better, safer, and more secure
Thank you to the leaders and organizations who joined us:

Renters are ready to act, and I'm proud to stand with them every step of the way.
Doug Ford's housing record:
❌ 80 percent behind target
❌ Deadlast in housing starts across Canada
❌ Slowest home building in over 20 years
He can't build a damn thing.
If this isn't death by a thousand cuts, then I don't know what is.
With these latest cuts to community workers, education centres, and cafeterias, the Conservatives are literally slashing fun, food, science and help from our schools.
The Conservatives cut, cut, cut when it comes to our public education.
Meanwhile, kids and parents are getting caught up in this government’s relentless attack on our schools.
Us? We will always stand with Heydon Park.
Every child in Ontario should be able to learn in a safe and welcoming public school. That's how they can reach their full potential.
That's how kids at Heydon Park reach theirs.
But that is only going to happen if we reverse the Conservatives' cuts and invest in our kids instead.
Moving elementary students from Orde Street into a high school space built around Heydon Park's specialized secondary programming just seems like poor planning.
Cuts to special education, staff layoffs at the TDSB, bigger class sizes, and now the threat of school closures - there's a pattern here.
Heydon Park is a very special school.
It is loved by kids with significant learning and support needs and their parents – but it is under threat.
First, Grade 9 enrolment was cut. Then Grade 10.
Now students there are being forced to temporarily move – no one knows where.
Families are being kept in the dark about what comes next. They fear this is one more step towards closing the school.
Heydon Park is built for its students, not deep Conservative cuts to education.
It needs to remain open.
A supersized Billy Bishop airport expansion would cost an astronomical 🚨 $5 billion ⁉️
That’s according to the Toronto Port Authority which governs the site - who told me last month that the City of Toronto hasn’t even seen a basic plan 🛩️
What are they waiting for? People deserve the facts.
Instead we’ve found that there has been:
❌ No health assessment
❌ No environmental survey
❌ No business case
The waterfront belongs to the people who live there, work there, and visit – not to big jets.
NEW: we’re learning more about the cost of “Protect Ontario” ads to taxpayers.
FOI records show the cost for just one ministry to produce & run them last year was nearly $10 million.
The total the Ford government has spent across all ministries is expected to be much higher.
$1 billion dollars.
That’s how much money the Ford government is giving to private companies to run our public services and social agencies.
These services are facing worker layoffs and cuts. Where is the money going?
This is the exact question I’ve asked Ontario’s Auditor General to look into.

This is what eight years of Doug Ford has done to our healthcare.
Patients who need a hospital bed are stuck in the ER for 17 hours. The government's own target is eight hours, and even that's too long.
Three-quarters of ER doctors say their departments are critically overcrowded.
Doug Ford broke our healthcare system.

Now is the time to act – over to the Conservative provincial government.
The ball is in their court: starting today, they can choose to protect and build up young people here in Ontario.
The alternative? A generation left behind.
Young people have become increasingly dependent on social media – and research shows that excessive use of social media among children and teenagers can contribute to:
😳 Anxiety
🪫 Depression
📉 Low self-esteem
🛏️ Sleep deprivation
🚨 Self-harm
🔄 Addictive behaviours
Ontario’s Official Opposition, the NDP, has been calling for stronger protections for children and youth online.

Think we need stronger action to protect children and youth from the harms of social media?
The Canadian Medical Association, the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association, and thousands of parents across Canada agree.
Now is the time to act.
That's why today, I have written alongside our leader @MaritStiles and @CFifeKW@ChandraPasma to Ontario's Minister of Education @PaulCalandra.
As the federal government introduces legislation that would ban children under 16 from social media in Canada, Ontario has an opportunity to be a leader in protecting children and youth from the harms associated with excessive social media use.
Together, we look forward to the provincial government's response and working collaboratively to protect Ontario’s children.
