Queer 40ish fangirl with a deep appreciation, somehow, for both sarcasm and sincerity. Really into nerd shit, activism, writing, and legal stuff. She/Her.
A concerning development surrounding an incredibly obscure process Congress set up to deport some people with connections to terrorism.
It comes as the Trump admin has reclassified many gangs as “terrorists,” and accused some innocent people of being gang members.
Breaking News: President Trump ordered new signs outside the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History to warn that its depiction of U.S. history, in his view, is “inaccurate.” It was the latest escalation in his dispute with the institution. https://t.co/lTdZ0uZKSc
Lying about Mitch McConnell's death to avoid a special election is election fraud - and so many Americans seem ok with that. In any other country there would be consequences.
Americans, what kind of spell are you under? What happened to you?

The Trump admin had a problem; most immigrants show up for their court hearings and fight their cases. That's bad for mass deportationists seeking to max out deportation orders.
Enter "mega masters" — rescheduling hearings for days later with no warning and inadequate notice.
For context, because people don't read: a lot of these students have been waiting for internal merit scholarships to be applied by the University. There have been additional issues with external parties attempting to add outside scholarships to student accounts, & being unable to

The Heritage Foundation, which laid the groundwork for Project 2025 & influences much of the current administration’s policies, recently released a report calling for the dismantling of Title IX in an effort to increase opportunities for male athletes & suppress female athletics
Guys, it’s been more than 5 weeks. If Mitch McConnell can’t personally provide a proper and believable health update, he has to be removed. This is absurd.
The death toll in Haiti is rising. The UN Security Council says conditions are worsening. A top Trump official says Haiti has become a "violent playground" for dictators.
Yet the Trump admin is still trying to deport 350,000 people back to Haiti, most who never violated any law.
Reporter: Isn’t there concern that this slippery slope to socialism inevitably ends up as full-blown communism?
AOC: I mean, no. I think that’s very silly. We can’t even raise the minimum wage. Do they really think communism is going to happen? No. They’re trying to scare people because they don’t want us talking about the fact that we all have a right to health care.
So they want to call everything they don’t like communist because if people actually wake up to the fact that their elected officials are screwing them over when they get here, they’re going to realize they deserve better and that health care as a right isn’t crazy. They want to call this stuff communist because they don’t want us to realize that the rest of the developed world has guaranteed health care. They want to call it communist because they don’t want you to know that Germany, Italy, the UK, Canada—everybody else—has it better than us, and we spend the most money for the worst care in the developed world.
I love how everyone is appalled at the very concept of arresting the President of Israel, like we didn’t black-bag the President of Venezuela earlier this year.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said Thursday that Sen. Mitch McConnell's (R-KY) five-week absence from Congress and lack of response to Gov. Andy Beshear's (D-KY) request for an update on his health "conveys a very disturbing inability to fulfill his duties."
"I understand that people have a right to medical privacy to deal with their issues, but we do not have the right to disappear from our jobs without explanation," she said. "I don't think any American has ever experienced the ability to just leave your job for over a month with no explanation to your employer."
I have talked about this at length. The women in Washington are fabulous. A lot of times, they are driven, determined, hard-working and emotionally mature and well-adjusted. The fellas are all emotionally stunted dweebs who never got over being told they were the smartest kids in 8th grade. That means their social skills are sorely lacking (and yes, I am including myself in this).
