Last month I mentioned this film and the filmmaker behind it, Jonathan Seungjoon Lee, has recently been kidnapped alongside others.

Asked about ICE's development of smart glasses to ID people, congresswoman @RepYassAnsari replies: "Every American should be aware that this is happening ... It's not just going to impact immigrants or people of color; it's going to impact every single American."

Here's what a senior homeland official told me about their development of ICE smart glasses: "It might be portrayed as seeking to identify illegal aliens on the streets, but the reality is that a push in this direction affects all Americans, particularly protesters."

Japanese engineers developed a “Sword Tip Visualization System” for the Fencing World Championships, and it makes fencing look absolutely incredible to watch.
This takes courage…
The Strokes closed their Coachella set flashing images of the governments the CIA has overthrown, the leaders the US has assassinated including MLK 👀, the war crimes the US is committing in Iran, and the genocide Israel is committing in occupied Palestine.
It's wonderful to hear the great Amy Goodman speak off the cuff like this, with such passion, and specifically about the role the media should play as a force for peace, humanizing those impacted by the US war machine. It's aspirational for me and hopefully many more in media.
Barbara Troy, my mother, is a One Piece character now 💙🏴☠️ Be sure to pause on the newspaper in One Piece Season 2 Episode 5 to see an on-screen "One Piece-ified" tribute to my mother's life. My mom bought me my first volume of #OnePiece in 2003 and watched as I maintained being a fan over the years. She knew exactly what the story meant to me and got to see the first season air, loved it, wore T-shirts supporting the show, and was sure to tell anyone who came into her bar to watch every episode and get ready for Season 2 to see what her son was helping write. I have no doubts that I gravitated to One Piece precisely because of her, because I admired how inclusive Eiichiro Oda's story was for differently abled people. It was the first story I saw with characters that had parental figures like mine. See, my mother lost her leg and mobility in her arm when I was young, but just like all of the strong-willed characters in One Piece who continually push, smile, and laugh through adversity, Mom never gave up. Even when told straight to her face, she'd never walk again. In the same way "never" and "no" wouldn't work for Luffy, Barbara Troy learned to walk again-- and even dance, but most important of all, she laughed. A lot. Whenever I'd be feeling down, I'd look to her, see her smiling through everything, and it would put me back on track. She inspired me the same way Luffy and the Straw Hats inspire others, and I'm so proud to see her name up there. I know she'd get a real kick out of it. I sure do. Special thanks to the showrunners for offering me this space to honor her, easily one of the most generous and meaningful acts anyone has ever done for me, not only in this business, but ever. And the biggest thanks of all will (of course) always go out to Mom, whose immeasurable love, support, and determination were always my compass-- and even though those don't work in the Grand Line, I've got an Eternal Pose now that points right to her. 😁🏴☠️💙
【What “One Piece” Means — From a Native Japanese Perspective】
I believe the true meaning behind Reverse Mountain may actually be “Re: Vearth”
“Re:” — In Japanese media titles (anime, manga, games), it often signals a reset, return, or reconstruction, like Re:Zero or Tokyo Ghoul:re.
“Vearth” — The word the people of the Sky Islands use to refer to “earth” or “land.”
In other words, I think Reverse Mountain itself could be the key to creating a new continent for the world — the mechanism that ultimately brings the world together as “ONE PIECE”
@onepiece777128@pewpiece it was done by a cartel, but they've been an issue since well beyond the current admin, so it's pretty clear that the right-wing movement in mexico just jumped onto those folks' fury and took advantage of it
heads up @pewpiece n co: there's gonna be a lot of BS one piece accounts popping up supporting this far right co-opting of the straw hat jolly roger in mexico, don't buy into it
No anime, movie, tv series has broken the "fourth wall of Ideas" like One Piece has and pushed so many people to follow the principles shown in One Piece. One Piece doesn't just break the internet, it breaks reality.
@mluffy_op@pewpiece the fact that their use of the straw hat logo is being encouraged by US Homeland Security on their own social media is telling enough lol
