@Keir_Starmer A piece of toast given to my kid at school has nothing to do with spending quality time with my family and 'juggling family life'. You sound so out of touch. Me and my partner work 10+ hours to make ends meet. Your post has made me unbelievably angry. Fuck you!

How to Avoid and Survive a Knife Attack.
I thought I would share some real advice today considering the ongoing knife epidemic in the UK. Please let me know your thoughts and if you have any tips to add!
Situational Awareness:
Recognize Potential Threats: Always be aware of your surroundings. Look for signs of aggression or unusual behavior in people around you. Avoid poorly lit or isolated areas where an attack is more likely.
Avoidance:
The Best Defense is to Run: If you sense danger, your first action should be to flee.
Run in a Zigzag Pattern: This makes you a harder target to catch opposed to running in a straight line.
Use Traffic and Cross Roads: Cross streets or run through areas with traffic to create obstacles between you and the attacker.
Put Barriers Between You: Use physical objects like bins, cars, or fences to block the attacker's path.
If Escape Isn't Possible:
Improvise with Objects: Grab anything nearby that can serve as a barrier or weapon:
Bags, chairs, or even a fire extinguisher can be used to defend yourself or to throw at the attacker to create distance.
Create Noise:
Shout for Help: Yelling can deter the attacker by drawing attention. It might also encourage bystanders to intervene or alert authorities.
Self-Defense:
Understand the Danger: Even with training, knives are extremely dangerous. The goal isn't to engage but to survive.
Maintain Distance: If you can't run, try to keep the attacker at bay. Use long items you might find (like a cane or broom) to keep them away.
Key Points to Remember:
Distance is Your Friend: The more distance you maintain, the safer you are.
Avoidance Over Confrontation: Your primary aim should be to escape, not to fight, especially if you're not trained for it.
Remember, the best way to survive is to avoid the situation entirely. If you find yourself in such a scenario, your focus should be on creating an escape route rather than engaging. Stay alert, stay safe.

Here are 10 beginner tips for sparring, tailored to help improve your skills in martial arts:
Beginner Tips for Sparring:
1. Start Slow - Begin at a comfortable pace to understand your opponent's movements and reactions. Speed up gradually as you get more comfortable.
2. Keep Your Guard Up - Always protect your face and body with your hands. A good guard is essential for defence.
3. Focus on Footwork - Good footwork allows you to move in, out, and around your opponent. Practice moving while maintaining balance.
4. Breathe Correctly - Don’t hold your breath. Exhale during strikes and inhale when you're moving or recovering.
5. Control Your Strikes - Especially in training, control the power of your punches and kicks to avoid injuring your partner.
6. Use Basic Techniques - Master and use basic punches, kicks, and blocks before moving to more complex moves.
7. Learn to Read Your Opponent - Pay attention to your opponent's habits or tells, which can give you an advantage.
8. Stay Relaxed - Tensing up can make you slower and more tired. Try to remain relaxed yet focused.
9. Defend First - In your initial stages, focus more on defence to learn how to react to different attacks.
10. Communicate - If you're unsure or need a break, communicate with your partner. Sparring should be safe and educational.
Top 5 Things I've Learned About Managing a Construction Site:
1. Communication is Key! - Clear, consistent communication with your team, contractors, and clients ensures everyone knows the plan, reducing errors and delays. Daily briefings and open lines for feedback can make all the difference. #ConstructionTips #ManageWell
2. Safety First - Never compromise on safety. Regular safety training, adherence to safety protocols, and immediate response to any safety concerns can prevent accidents and foster a culture of safety. #ConstructionSafety #SafetyMatters
3. Plan for the Unexpected - Always have a contingency plan. Delays due to weather, material shortages, or equipment issues are common. Being proactive with alternatives and having a buffer in your timeline can save a project from going off track. #PlanAhead #ConstructionManagement
4. Quality Over Speed - Rushing to meet deadlines can lead to shoddy work. Prioritize quality in every aspect of the project. Quality work not only ensures durability but also enhances your reputation. #QualityWork #ConstructionStandards
5. Manage Your Resources Wisely - From manpower to materials, efficient resource management is crucial. Overstaffing can bloat costs, while understaffing can delay projects. Similarly, manage materials to prevent waste or shortages. #ResourceManagement #EfficiencyMatters
