Sanchez is correct in refusing to allow the US to use joint military bases to carry out their war crimes against the people of Iran. He demonstrates real spine here, and models leadership to the rest of Europe.

He is also correct to reject increased spending on NATO, which only enriches US military contractors, increases US power, and deepens European dependency. NATO spending does *not* help the people of Europe, it helps the US military industrial complex.

But he should go further. Spain, and all other sane European governments, should shut down the US military bases altogether, and withdraw from NATO.

NATO is not a "defense" alliance. It is a platform for the projection of US imperial power into Asia and Africa. This is fundamentally *not* in the interests of the European people, not in the interests of the rest of the world, and should not be tolerated.
