@cia391 @Installation001 Totally forgot about Halseys Journal. I’m hoping in Omnibus they’ll change Chiefs first time with energy shields to a Mk IV with prototype shields rather than Mk V. Chief having the shields in bonus missions would make sense now and be a cool tie in to all the rumored prototypes.

2009 Halo Encyclopedia mentions rumors of a prototype. This might be the only piece of lore that could explain Chief having energy shields.

Strictly speaking, the Mark-IV shouldn't have energy shields. So if you want a more lore accurate experience, go to gameplay settings and change the damage modifier for energy shields to 0. You can hate me later.
