Getting ready to give an online lecture to students on the Nanomagnetics course at Airlangga University, Indonesia.
Magnetic Nanoparticles: Synthesis and Characterisation
A lot to cover in 1 hour 😅
@Unair_Official@ilmaamalina@UoBChem
My 1st cover art! Thanks to @softmatter for publishing. @UoBChem
Thats the 2nd art work I have licensed out. The 1st was a Christmas card displayed by the National Science and Media Museum in 1991 (a snowy Yorkshire landscape)

I dug out my paints to create a cover art for my latest publication.

It been accepted as an inside cover in @softmatter 🤪
The artwork represent the abstract dance between the magnetic field, thermal convection and magnetic nanoparticles.
@UoBChem
latest paper from our group. Fully open access.
Free to download!
Magnetically induced drug release from niosome-based nanocarriers loaded with doxorubicin - now published in Soft Matter https://t.co/TIfb139Rtl

@UoBChem@UoBPaMS Had a great meeting with @CosmeticCluster yesterday
It was their annual networking day and we discussed Educational and Skills pathways for Cosmetic Science .
@HenryLovett101 presented the @RoySocChem Future Workforce and Educational Pathways report.
+ Cake!
So today, I presented on Rome at infectious disease congress, my PhD student is presenting in Sheffield @YRM_2025 and all appears to have been a grand success. No idea how she's celebrating but my hotel has a pool...
I will be giving a guest lecture to students on the 'Introduction to Nanotechnology' module at Airlangga University on Tuesday 6th May.....should be fun!
My lecture last year had 156 attendees!

@UoBChem
Now Dr Tom Swift discusses issues in healthcare markets regarding infectious diseases, and introduces Molecular Titans - an initiative to develop new materials that bring with them new solutions - at the @Bionow Yorkshire Partnering Event.
Dr Refaat Hamed from our school is now delivering his lightning pitch for Biosycle - a new venture to develop his patented biocatalytic technologies to produce clinically important small molecules.
Our Business Development Manager Jason Jones is talking about the Bradford Digitisation Hub at @Bionow Yorkshire BioPartnering event today. Lots of opportunities for SME businesses to get free at point of use Chemistry consultation!
Work published in Bradford in 2018 passes 1000 citations! Work led by Dr Nayak, who used to lead our Chemistry programme, has shown significant interest amongst the Metal Organic Framework community.

At the moment our Chemistry REF plans continue. Informally we are one of the most well prepared, well supported UoAs in the entire University - a hub of research excellence. Condolences to the whole team however for this devastating news!
It's official then! Students were told over a week ago, us a month ago - now the newspapers have picked up on the story. There will be no Chemistry intake at Bradford this September. Am gutted the team has not been able to secure ongoing support.

Spent the day at the Central Laser Facility @CLF_STFC in the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory @RutherfordApLab .... An amazing home for UK science. They needed to speak to a material chemist 🧪 ⚗️. This is a mural inside the building. @UoBChem
Anna has had a great day with year 12 & 13 students from @OldhamHulme for a chemistry filled day on campus.
They spent the morning in our labs taking part in a practical chemistry session. They then spent the afternoon in our analytical chemistry facilities🧪
Our apprentice students are on campus studying electrochemical reactions, comparing the conductivity of different metal salts. This is one of our favourite experiments on both our residential Chemistry degree and also our Level 6 Lab Scientist programme
