Your favorite look-up service for UPCs - with price comparison, price tracking, reverse UPC and reverse ASIN search - and an Android barcode scanning app too!
https://t.co/FwhXFQKNYy is down YET AGAIN due to DNS/nameserver problems. We will soon be naming and shaming the server company as it's getting ridiculous. Apologies for the problems, we will try to get things running again ASAP and look at migrating to a new host soon.
UPCZilla has been down for some 9 hours now, it's very frustrating but we are working with our server host to get it sorted out. It seems to be a DNS problem, nothing to do with the actual site, we are as keen as anyone to get back up and running, we'll let you know.
https://t.co/FwhXFQKNYy is undergoing some DNS changes right now and might not be available for up to an hour or so in certain areas until these changes propagate, thanks for understanding, we hope normal UPC service will soon be resumed.
@cuongnguyenCNN Another cool thing is that the shape of the barcode vertically doesn't really matter, as long as there is enough of the pattern present in a single horizontal line - so you can do fun shapes if you want https://t.co/w1hYxxSppR
@thatsmytrunks@step_nie Worst thing from our perspective is anyone can list an item using any UPC on eBay etc. so when someone is trying to find a particular item they just get crap coming up, like instead of a particular model of phone it'll just be a case for it which defeats the whole point of UPCs.
@IGACorporate UPCZillabot has added these new UPCs to our database: https://t.co/lfozBh3yIh (P.S. It would be nice if they had the leading zero and checksum added, they would get added quicker :))
UPCZilla now has over 4 million UPCs in its database - woohoo! Along with price comparison and price history data for a great number of them. For instance, look at how the price of this common GPU has fallen over the last couple of years.
Well, https://t.co/FwhXFQKNYy is finally back up, there were some major DNS problems yesterday and a lot of people couldn't access the site, these things happen sometimes but it was pretty stressful for us, sorry for any inconvenience to users.
This is a unexpectedly bad patch of downtime for UPCZilla, the problem isn't fixed yet, we're getting nervous now but unfortunately it's out of our hands :(
You may experience difficulty accessing https://t.co/FwhXFQKNYy right now. The site is running fine, it's a DNS problem that we're waiting for the powers-that-be to fix. We should be back soon but we don't have an ETA.
Our servers have now been upgraded and everything is definitely feeling nippier now. We will continue to improve services in the future - let us know if you see any issues. https://t.co/wulDEDyzwt
We will be experiencing brief downtime hopefully lasting 15 minutes at most, sometime between 6 and 7am EST. This is to upgrade our server to a faster setup - hopefully most people will be in bed and won't notice, and the bots can live with it.
Apologies to anyone using our Bulk UPC tool β due to unusually high server load at the moment we have been forced to slow down the rate of indexing - we are looking for solutions going forward https://t.co/6fzhU3J7sg
OK, UPCZilla is back online after a few hours downtime for a server migration, took a little longer than anticipated as these things inevitable do but all looks good now, sorry for any inconvenience.
