One of the biggest mistakes UPSC aspirants make?
Treating April-May as the deadline to finish the syllabus.
Finish your syllabus by December!
Because the next 4–5 months belong to:
• Revision
• PYQs
• Mock tests
• Fixing weak areas
That's where you clear Prelims!!
A productive UPSC aspirant day doesn't have to be fancy.
📰 1 hour Newspaper
Breakfast
📚 3–4 hours GS (Subject 1)
Lunch
📖 3–4 hours GS(Subject 2)
Dinner
✍️ 2 hours Optional
Do this consistently July-December.
Goal is to finish the syllabus as soon as possible!
The wrong question while selecting Optional for UPSC:
"Which Optional is the most scoring?"
The right question:
"Which Optional can I study consistently for the next 18 months?"
UPSC doesn't reward the person who studies the longest.
It rewards the person who shows up every day and studies intelligently!
Consistency + Smart Work > Occasional Hard Work.
One of the most important fact about UPSC Prelims:
It rewards judgment more than knowledge!
Success isn't about how much you know.
It's about how wisely you use what you know!!
If you're still covering new topics in March–April, you're already behind.
The ideal target:
✅ Finish the syllabus by December–January!
The months after that should be reserved for what actually clears UPSC:
- Revision × Multiple times.
- PYQs.
- Mocks.
