In the last three years, defying Afghan demands and international pressure, the Taliban have adopted progressively extreme gender discriminatory policies, eliminating female agency, productivity, mobility, education, participation in public space, access to protection mechanisms, and even the ability to speak in public. This new policy banning women from medical institutes threatens to complete the erasure of women by depriving them of access to health services, including maternal and life-saving medical care. It is inhumane and logic defying to prevent the emergence of women health practitioners & prohibit women & girls from being treated by male doctors. This policy has an impact on every mother, every unborn infant—boys and girls—and the very future of Afghanistan. (1/2)
