Following the second Caribbean Regional Forensic Leadership Summit held in May in St Lucia, the United States has announced more than $8 million in new U.S. foreign assistance to strengthen forensic capabilities across the Caribbean, including synthetic drug detection equipment, expert support, and the launch of the Caribbean Forensic Scientific Working Group.
Through the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative, the United States is working with Caribbean countries, including Jamaica, to disrupt fentanyl and other synthetic drug threats, reduce forensic laboratory backlogs, and support court-admissible evidence that helps turn investigations into prosecutions.

Traveling to Jamaica? Make sure your U.S. passport is ready before you go.
U.S. citizens, including dual Jamaican-U.S. citizens, must enter and exit the United States using a valid U.S. passport. Newly naturalized U.S. citizens also need a U.S. passport to return to the United States. A Jamaican passport and naturalization certificate are not enough for reentry.
Do not wait until there is an emergency. Check your passport’s expiration date, renew early, and plan ahead for smooth travel.

Partnership is more than words. It is service. Chargé d’Affaires Scott Renner joined USS Nimitz Sailors, @JDFSoldier members, and local partners for a community relations effort supporting stronger learning environments for students across Kingston.
Working side by side, U.S. and Jamaican teams helped with school improvements including painting, repairs, beautification, and grounds work at Gaynstead High School, Clan Carthy High School, Rennock Lodge Primary and Infant, and Grove Primary and Infant. From classrooms to school grounds, these projects show what partnership looks like in action and reflect our shared commitment to education, community, and the next generation of Jamaican leaders.

Grant writing is more than a technical skill — it is a pathway to opportunity, innovation, and long-term institutional growth.
U.S. Fulbright Specialist Kevin Keenan, founder and CEO of GROW Strategies LLC, led a session in partnership with American Friends of Jamaica (@AFJcares) and The UWI Mona School of Business & Management to strengthen grant writing and resource development capacity in Jamaica.
Deputy Public Affairs Officer Paul Stilley delivered remarks highlighting how programs like this help Jamaican professionals across government, academia, and civil society turn strong ideas into funded realities.
Through Fulbright, the United States continues to support practical exchanges that build skills, strengthen institutions, and advance the next chapter of Jamaica’s success story.
