CDA Tom Hines and Honorable Minister of Environment Thabo Mofosi yesterday discussed shared priorities and opportunities to advance Lesotho's sustainable development. They highlighted U.S.-Lesotho cooperation, including transformative investments by two U.S. companies – Convalt Energy and Zipline – which can create jobs, strengthen energy security, improve health care service delivery, and accelerate economic growth.

The United States remains committed to working with Lesotho to foster innovation, investment, and a more prosperous future for both our nations.

The U.S. Embassy's Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Monica Schneider and the Lesotho Mounted Police Service's Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr Morai will host a press briefing at the American Corner to discuss how Basotho communities benefit from closer ties with law enforcement. The briefing will showcase how partnerships between law enforcement and the community help deter crime, with a focus on narcotics and protecting our neighbors from dangerous substances.

Congratulations to Malehlohonolo Mahase, Hape Marite, Moratuoa Hlongwa, and Tokiso Nthebe, four US Government Mandela Washington Fellowship alumni representing Lesotho this week at the 2026 Alumni Forum on U.S.–Africa Commercial Partnerships in Kenya. Joining about 150 fellow alumni from across the continent, they will engage in vital discussions shaping the future of U.S.–Africa economic cooperation. 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐨 𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
The Embassy Foreign Assistance team and experts from the Centers for Disease Control visited five health facilities and two community service delivery sites in Leribe, Berea, and Maseru. They assessed progress rolling out LEN, provided technical guidance, and made recommendations for national scale-up.
We’re ecstatic to report the LEN rollout is progressing well, with strong demand across the sites visited. Healthcare providers demonstrated strong competence and enthusiasm for delivering the new intervention.
With U.S. assistance, Lesotho is on track to expand access to this innovative HIV prevention option and accelerate progress toward reducing new HIV infections.

Happy Freedom 250 Friday! Thanks to all who joined our Independence Week activities, including:
• the launch of the U.S. Founders Museum at American Corner Maseru,
• discussion of U.S. and Lesotho’s founders and national history,
• CDA Hines’s and Foreign Assistance Specialist Ian Membe’s radio interview on health,
• the second Advanced Business Training for Sebabatso graduates,

We extend our sincere gratitude to Historian and Filmmaker Kalosi Ramakhula and Former Ambassador to Washington Tumisang Mosotho for sharing their insights and leading these important discussions with Political and Economic Chief Sean Lawlor. The U.S. Embassy to Lesotho was excited to observe the signing of the MOU between T-Connect (Authorized Starlink Reseller) and the Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) to cooperate in the establishment of a computer lab at the Police Training Center and a framework for training on cybersecurity and digital law enforcement. This MOU establishes a pathway to realizing the dream of digital connectivity for LMPS and securing the future of community policing for Lesotho.
