A big announcement JUST was made re: high-stakes testing. The gov announced the intent to drop high-stakes FSA testing in the 2022-23 school year. It will free up time for genuine teaching and learning, a move that the FEA, local unions & our 150,000 members have long advocated.
Just. Get. Vaccinated! That’s all. There is a saying that comes from the Jewish Talmud “whoever saves a life, it is considered as if he saved an entire world.”
In mid-July, millions of families will get the first of six monthly payments of as much as $300 per child from the U.S. government. @nytimes has a great write up about the #ChildTaxCredit: https://t.co/uZAWebqr5M
"Reagan’s real aim, however, was to slash spending..."
Is History repeating itself? This time with the target being K-12 public schools... with the same real aim... to slash funding...

That’s why it was written, that’s why it was passed.
Your weekly reminder everything is open in Florida except for the Senate and House.
This is the line of people still waiting outside for the Senate Rules Committee meeting. Evidently, it’s full inside in the Civic Center.
An hour before the Senate Rules Committee starts and over one hundred public workers from all over the state are in line to say with one voice, Vote no on SB1014!
Why would Florida Republicans want to ban giving out food and water to voters waiting in lines, ban drop boxes, and make it harder to vote by mail?
Voter suppression. That’s why.
ALERT:SB 84 would close the pension system to new hires as of 7/1/22. An amendment has been filed that would further destabilize FRS & put your retirement security into jeopardy. Don’t let lawmakers take away your retirement. Tell them to VOTE NO on SB 84: https://t.co/UOPdeE5Xce
Why is it ok to limit the freedoms of teachers and staff in our schools? Why is it ok to expand big government to “verify” that teacher & staff know how to make decisions about what they do with their own money? Help teachers, don’t hurt them. #FundOurFutureFL@FloridaEA
