@ElterEki@rirumato Mhm. See this falls under the rigger’s decision. The client cannot force them to sell the cmo3 file which causes the client to get fucked in cases cause they have no power in this relationship. They have no recourse if things go wrong. You see tweets where its clear that happened
@dandoartx@KanikouEstellia Like let’s gamble with thousands of dollars whether this rigger is gonna screw me. If better practices were in place, these complaints wouldn’t happen because customers would either have always have a way to get the cmo3 file or some compensation for the rigger disappearing.
@dandoartx@KanikouEstellia I feel so weird about this. Why is it that the customer has to always say something for the rigger not do anything predatory? You have to be the one to ask not to get fucked if the rigger decides to disappear. All the risk is in the customer buying for some reason.
@ElterEki@rirumato But that’s clearly not the case though. If the cmo3 was always sold, we wouldn’t be having this discourse on twitter. Some rigger called the cmo3 liquid gold and wouldn’t sell it. Clearly alotta riggers don’t sell them.
@ElterEki@rirumato I don’t get this take though ngl. The point of the rig is for the vtuber to have a usable model that they can customize and change around for their liking. That’s what they are paying you for so why can’t they use it for their uses like planned? Ofc you can add restrictions.
@ElterEki@rirumato You can’t just say don’t buy when the majority don’t actually sell their cmo3. It’s like saying don’t buy concert tickets when the only vendor is ticketmaster. A vtuber is expecting to update their rigs, and might not know commissioning with someone can literally lock them in.
@ElterEki@rirumato I think unfortunately that’s the risk you have to face like how customers face the risk of their rigger disappearing on them. This way everyone bears some risk and not just the customer.
@ElterEki@rirumato Yeah that’s fine. That’s all I’m really advocating for yk. It’s the ones that don’t offer the working files for any price which basically makes whatever vtubers who commission them to have to update their rig through only them and no one else.
@ElterEki@rirumato I’m 99% sure the liability is fully outta your hands. Whatever they chose to do with the product has nothing to do with you yk. You sold it, it’s already outta your hands. It’s like modding a game, it’s clear it’s not your fault if someone messes it up or does something weird.
@beiwii Some people just don’t do enough research but that doesn’t mean they should be punished because of that. There’s a reason that refunds on amazon or ebay exist even if it can be abused. I’m fine with upcharging on the cmo3, it just has to he a option so the vtuber isn’t locked in.
@beiwii The fact they aren’t offering to sell the cmo3 files is predatory yk. Just because it’s in the TOS doesn’t mean it’s right. Ticketmaster has fees it can add onto your ticket in it’s TOS. Doesn’t mean it isn’t predatory. Customers should be able to use different riggers.
